Paula Patton Claims Robin Thicke Invited a Drug Dealer to Son's 5th Birthday — and More Bombshells from Her Court Filing

The actress accuses her ex-husband of domestic violence, infidelity and drug abuse in an explosive court declaration

On Wednesday, Paula Patton filed a request for a temporary restraining order against Robin Thicke, accusing her ex-husband of domestic violence, infidelity and drug abuse in an explosive court declaration.

The following day, an L.A. judge granted Patton‘s request for a temporary restraining order against the singer; for the time being, Thicke must remain at least 100 yards away from her, their 6-year-old son Julian and her mother, Joyce Patton.

Thicke’s lawyer Angela Pierce di Donato responded to the allegations. “Paula never reported any domestic violence until she was in a position of contempt by violating the custody orders,” Pierce di Donato told PEOPLE in a statement. “DCFS asked both Paula and Robin to drug test. Robin agreed and submitted to his test, but Paula refused to test. Infidelity has nothing to do with custody. She is attempting to throw anything at him to hurt him, but Robin’s focus is their son.”

In the temporary restraining order request, Patton’s attorney Larry Bakman wrote: “[Patton] is in reasonable apprehension of imminent serious bodily injury to herself and the child.”

PEOPLE has obtained Patton’s shocking court documents. Below are the biggest bombshells Patton, 41, alleges amid her ongoing custody battle with Thicke, 39.

Thicke allegedly ‘had a drug and alcohol problem.’

Throughout her declaration, Patton alleges Thicke struggled with addiction throughout their relationship but that she saw an “increase” after the birth of their son and toward the end of their marriage.

“Prior to our son’s birth, I observed Robin to be an occasional user of alcohol and marijuana. He would drink alcohol and smoke marijuana openly in front of family and friends. During our relationship, I observed Robin use cocaine casually at parties or social gatherings,” she alleges in the documents.

However, Patton’s declaration goes on to say, in 2009, “our entertainment manager quit, citing Robin’s drug abuse as the sole reason for his termination of our representation. I was shocked, as I had no idea until then of the extent of Robin’s cocaine abuse.”

Patton says in the declaration that a strain was put on their relationship, and after attending a single session of marriage counseling in 2013, “Robin again admitted to me that he had a drug and alcohol problem and that it was affecting his behavior.”

Patton and Thicke announced their separation in 2014 and finalized their divorce in 2015, and the documents says they were amicably co-parenting for a time but that there were incidents — including one at their son’s fifth birthday party — that alarmed her.

“In April 2015, Robin held Julian’s birthday party, and I attended without incident (I did note, however, that Robin had invited his drug dealer ‘Guido’ to the party, which I thought was highly inappropriate. I was aware of who Guido was since Robin would procure drugs through him during our marriage),” a passage of Patton’s declaration reads.

She says their marriage was rife with cheating.

Throughout Patton’s declaration, the actress details episodes of infidelity, including a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway in 2013 at Chateau Marmont. Per the documents, after they “made love,” Patton fell asleep and “later learned that after I had fallen asleep, Robin had attempted to have sex with some girl in the second bedroom … When I confronted Robin about this, he admitted to attempting to have sex with the stranger, but stated that he ended up being unable to do so because of the amount of cocaine that he used that evening had caused him to be unable to perform … Julian was in another room with our nanny at the time.”

That same year, Thicke’s T..I and Pharrell collaboration “Blurred Lines” became the biggest hit of his career, and he hit the road to promote his album.

According to the court filing, “When Robin returned from the tour, he came home and told me that he had unprotected sex with seven other women. He then informed me that [a tabloid] had found out about this and that they were going to expose him. In exchange for better treatment, Robin offered them an exclusive interview. He wanted me to hear about the unprotected sex from him as opposed to reading it in the tabloids. I immediately had myself tested for sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS given his representation that his having sex with other women was unprotected.”

Later that year, after the MTV VMAs, Patton alleges in her declaration: “After the taping of the awards show, I went to our room only to find Robin in bed with two naked women. I left the hotel, wandered the streets of New York and called my brother crying.”

Patton says she suffered repeated domestic abuse.

Patton’s declaration is full of allegations that Thicke physically and verbally abused her, including around their son’s third birthday birthday in April 2013, Patton’s declaration alleges that, while Thicke was receiving a massage at their home, she “observed him to have inappropriate contact with the masseuse. I told Robin that I was upset, and that his conduct was not cool. I left the room and went to another bedroom and locked the door … Robin became so enraged that I had interrupted his ‘massage’ that he broke down the locked door.” Shortly after, she alleges, “Robin became physically violent with me. He pushed me down and kicked me.”

Three months later, in 2013 at the Cannes Film Festival, Patton alleges in her declaration that “we began fighting. Robin hit me with a closed fist to my upper body and then pushed me onto the ground. I left the room and walked the streets of Cannes. I called Robin’s father and his best friend, Craig, to see if they could offer any of of intervention and/or salvaging the relationship.”

The court documents also detail an alleged incident in February of 2014, when, “I was in Vancouver filming a movie entitled Warcraft. Robin and Julian came to stay with me for the weekend. Robin told me that as part of my Valentine’s gift, he was going to wake up with Julian that day (which was an extraordinarily unusual action for him to take), so that I could sleep in. When Julian woke up that morning, the nanny brought him into our room. I asked him whether he was going to get up and watch our son, and Robin lost control. In front of our nanny and in front of Julian, he jumped out of bed naked, screaming. Julian was upset and frightened by this unexpected rage (as was I).”

What’s next?

On Thursday, a judge gave Patton sole legal and physical custody of Julian until the next hearing scheduled for Feb. 24, with supervised visitation for Thicke three days a week at a neutral location.

PEOPLE has made further attempts to reach Thicke’s representatives for response to Patton’s specific allegations.
