Disney Cinderella Movie Inspired Party

Cinderella Party

I so enjoyed the trailers for the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures Cinderella (2015) film and I knew I had some friends who would enjoy getting ready for the movie release with a Cinderella inspired luncheon party.  I viewed the trailers over and over again and saw butterflies in so many of the clips that I knew I wanted to include them in the party.  The film has a distinct style with rich jewel-toned colors which made it easy to determine the colors for this celebration.

Cinderella Inspired Party

This was a party that called for being set up out of doors and I am thankful I can go outdoors – since I’m in sunny Florida! I am so lucky to have these purple and gold upholstered dining chairs for a party such as this.  I think they give a very ‘royal’ feel to the event.  Anytime you move indoor furniture out of doors, it makes your party seem extra special, after all, you have gone to all of the trouble to move the furniture!  I painted IKEA’s Ung Drill Frames gold and hung them with ribbons from a nearby tree to set the backdrop for the primary food table.  For more details about the tablescape, check out my post, Cinderella Movie Inspired Tablescape.

Tea sandwiches cut into crown shapes were served up to guests, along with Pepperidge Farm Golden Butter Crackers in butterfly shapes. topped with chive flavored cream cheese and a cucumber slice.  Along with those, I served skewers of colorful fruits, strawberries, blackberries, grapes and pineapple, and cute little mice made out of cheese.

Setting up my food displays was easy, incorporating lots of gold like the pictures I have seen of the ornate gold carriage that will carry Cinderella to the Ball.

It was easy to come up with ideas for decorating this party, after deciding to add butterflies throughout, I knew I needed to include the icons from an Cinderella story, a pumpkin, a glass slipper and a clock about to strike midnight. My goal was to keep the party sophisticated and filled with magical touches – and also to show that a Cinderella themed party can have an adult feel but still relate to the child at heart. I have included a trailer for the upcoming film below. I would love to hear what you think in the comments below…
