At 10:25pm, an emergency unit from Kamala Administrative Organisation was called to the scene at the entrance of Ban Kuan in Kamala.
They found Maximillien Nahuel Grau lying on the ground with deadly head injuries. His smashed-up red motorbike appeared to have crashed into the pole.
His body was taken to Patong Hospital.
Mr Grau was the Resort Manager at The Bell Pool Villa Resort and was described by his managing director, Antonie Polfliet, as "a very energetic and passionate leader".
Mr Polfliet added, "He was very loved by everyone he came in contact with and always gave them some positive energy. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones."
