Liverpool are close to sealing their first summer signing with teen star Paulinho in England to finalise a move.

The 17-year-old is currently owned by third-tier Portuguese side A.D. Sanjoanense, who have announced that Paulinho has travelled to Merseyside with his father to put pen to paper on an Anfield deal.

Paulo Alves, nicknamed Paulinho (or 'little Paul') for his small size as a boy, will hook up with the Reds for next season, allowing him to finish the current campaign with the Sao Joao club.

He will join compatriot Joao Teixeira, another youngster brought in by Liverpool, in the youth ranks where Brendan Rodgers is looking to cement a new philosophy in the wake of Frank McParland's departure.
