Two professional bullfighters were taken by ambulances to Longmont United Hospital Friday night for examination and treatment of injuries they incurred in encounters with bulls during a freestyle bullfighting competition at the Boulder County Fair.
Kevin Rich, the promoter of the event, said in a Saturday telephone interview that John Jesse was reported to have a broken arm after a bull ran over him and had been released from the hospital.
Rich said the second man, Vinnie Garcia, may have suffered abdominal injuries and a bruised kidney in his run-in with a bull during Friday’s show and had stayed in the hospital overnight. But Rich said Garcia but wasn’t expected to be there much longer.
“It’s a dangerous profession,” Rich said. But he said the two men, both Coloradans, “are trained professionals.”
