“Playing” isn’t just for kids. It’s important for adults in the workplace too, and Dr. Barry Kudrowitz thinks we need more of it. “Adults still learn best through play,” Kudrowitz says. “That’s part of the problem.” One way of making everything more like play, particularly in the workplace, is to ensure challenges meet your skillset. “Video games are so good at this,” Kudrowitz says. “You beat the first level, and they’re like, ‘Let’s up the skills set just a little bit to keep them in a state of flow and keep that activity viewed as play.’ As you build skill sets, the challenges keep increasing.” Kudrowitz says this is often missing in the work environment. How do you incorporate play into your workplace? Let us know in the comments. Workers are still looking for flexibility. Remote jobs have become harder to land since their pandemic-prompted 2022 peak, when remote-focused job listings made up over 20% of all paid job postings on LinkedIn. Interest — and competition — for those few roles still remains high. One place to search for options? LinkedIn’s latest Top Companies list. A handful of companies — particularly those in the financial, professional services and healthcare sectors — had many remote-friendly job offerings in 2023. Consider financial services company Synchrony (No. 33). The vast majority (82.48%) of the firm’s job postings in 2023 were for remote roles. “When we look at the holistic employee experience, we believe that flexibility is the new currency,” a company spokesperson told LinkedIn News. By dropping an emphasis on when and where employees work, it creates space for them to focus on being their “best both personally and professionally.” Other financial services and professional services companies also offer flexible working options, including PwC (No. 5), Deloitte (No. 4), Mastercard (No. 13) and American Express (No. 49). Dig into what other Top Companies have remote and hybrid offerings here: https://lnkd.in/USTopCompanies24.
