gcalctool is a powerful graphical calculator with financial, logical and scientific modes. It uses a multiple precision package to do its arithmetic to give a high degree of accuracy.
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a powerful image composition and editing program, which can be extremely useful for creating logos and other graphics for webpages. GIMP has many of the tools and filters you would expect to find in similar commercial offerings, and some interesting extras as well. GIMP provides a large image manipulation toolbox, including channel operations and layers, effects, sub-pixel imaging and anti-aliasing, and conversions, all with multi-level undo.
gthumb is an application for viewing, editing, and organizing collections of images.

BitTorrent is a tool for distributing files. It's extremely easy to use - downloads are started by clicking on hyperlinks. Whenever more than one person is downloading at once they send pieces of the file(s) to each other, thus relieving the central server's bandwidth burden. Even with many simultaneous downloads, the upload burden on the central server remains quite small, since each new downloader introduces new upload capacity.
Mozilla Firefox is an open-source web browser, designed for standards compliance, performance and portability.

Pidgin allows you to talk to anyone using a variety of messaging protocols including AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, Jabber, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, ICQ, IRC, Novell Groupwise, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, Simple and Zephyr. These protocols are implemented using a modular, easy to use design. To use a protocol, just add an account using the account editor.
Mozilla Thunderbird is a standalone mail and newsgroup client.

VIM (VIsual editor iMproved) is an updated and improved version of the vi editor. Vi was the first real screen-based editor for UNIX, and is still very popular. VIM improves on vi by adding new features: multiple windows, multi-level undo, block highlighting and more. The vim-enhanced package contains a version of VIM with extra, recently introduced features like Python and Perl interpreters.
K3b provides a comfortable user interface to perform most CD/DVD burning tasks. While the experienced user can take influence in all steps of the burning process the beginner may find comfort in the automatic settings and the reasonable k3b defaults which allow a quick start.

Grip is a GTK+ based front-end for CD rippers (such as cdparanoia and cdda2wav) and Ogg Vorbis encoders. Grip allows you to rip entire tracks or just a section of a track. Grip supports the CDDB protocol for accessing track information on disc database servers.

Amarok is a KDE multimedia player with: - fresh playlist concept, very fast to use, with drag and drop - plays all formats supported by the various engines - audio effects, like reverb and compressor - compatible with the .m3u and .pls formats for playlists - nice GUI, integrates into the KDE look, but with a unique touch. Amarok can use various engines to decode sound : helix and xine. (gstreamer is in the works) To use the helix engine, you'll have to install either HelixPlayer or RealPlayer
GNOME terminal emulator application.
Kudzu is a hardware probing tool run at system boot time to determine what hardware has been added or removed from the system. You can run it with a "-p" option and it will list all the hardware on your system that it detected.
jquota.sh is a script that runs from the current directory and gives the user information about their quota. The script will display the user's current quota, show where the largest files are, and allow the user to delete their cache and core files. Located at /usr/bin/jquota.sh, but can be run from any directory where the user has sufficient privileges.
mquota.pl supersedes jquota.sh. While functionally identical, it is more robust. A few of the improvements include: automatic relinking of the Firefox SQLite DB to reduce disk quota usage, more precise coredump file detection, and generic cachefile detection. Located at /usr/bin/mquota.pl, but can be run from any directory where the user has sufficient privileges.
