Young Thug and Birdman involved in alleged conspiracy to kill Lil Wayne

Rapper Young Thug was arrested Wednesday in Sandy Springs, Georgia for making “terroristic threats” during an earlier altercation, but his legal issues don’t end there.

According to an indictment filed in Cobb City in June, Young Thug, whose given name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams, and rapper Birdman (a.k.a. Bryan Williams) were involved in a conspiracy with Jimmy Winfrey to kill Lil Wayne when his tour bus was attacked and shot at in April. Channel 2 Action News was the first outlet to uncover the indictment.

The indictment alleges that Lil Wayne and Birdman fought over the former’s contract with Cash Money Records, which they both co-own. The business dispute has made headlines in recent months since it delayed the release of Lil Wayne’s album, Tha Carter V.

According to the indictment, Winfrey, who is Thug’s former road manager, shot up Wayne’s tour bus on April 26. “After Atlanta Police discontinued their escort, (Winfrey) and fellow Blood Gang members entered Interstate 285 from Atlanta Road in Cobb County in pursuit of the buses occupied by (Lil Wayne’s) group,” the document says. “The white sports car pulled beside the buses, shots were then fired into the buses from the sports car with a .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun.”

The indictment then says Winfrey “placed a call to a cell phone owned by Bryan Williams.” Young Thug and Birdman have yet to be charged for these events, and Winfrey will appear in court on Friday.

Thug’s rep told EW he has no comment.
