So you are looking to lose weight, but have neither the time nor the energy to go to the gym every day. Or even enroll for yoga, Pilates and swimming classes. And you really can't be bothered with a rigorous diet. Why not try doing household chores instead? These humble activities might not seem like a lot, but you do end up putting major muscle groups to use, effectively toning your body and burning calories. Here are some easy household chores that will help you burn calories.
Scrubbing the bathroom

Scrubbing the bathroom
Grab a scrubber and a bottle of cleaner and get down to cleaning the walls, the floors and all else in the bathroom, keeping your stomach muscles tight. Scrubbing uses the muscles in the abs and the arms. And while you slide your hands in front of you to scrub, you effectively do a plank without even realising it. This activity will help you tone the arms, make your core stronger, reduce back pain and give you fab abs.
Squat

Squat
A lot of household activities require you to squat inadvertently, whether it is to take out or put something in a drawer or the fridge, or putting the clothes in the washing machine, or in your wardrobe. Hold the position for longer than you would and you would easily have performed at least one set of squats. It engages the quads and the hamstrings and leaves you with toned thighs, hips and calves.
Washing the car

Washing the car
When you wash the car, you need to rinse it with water, scrub each part with cleaner and rinse afterwards. All these activities engage every part of your body, effectively giving you a full-body workout. Washing the car works your arms, legs, core and the abdominal muscles, helping you lose weight in the process.
Cooking

Cooking
Ordering in every day is going to make you put on weight. So will heating up processed food for dinner. Why not just head to the kitchen? Start from scratch, chop the veggies, wash and clean them to work the muscles in your arms. All the bending while chopping and cooking will also work your abs. Grind and paste the old-fashioned way instead of using the mixer grinder to give your arms some additional exercise.
Grocery shopping

Grocery shopping
Don't call the local supermarket when you need things for the house, walk over to the store instead. All the walking around the aisles across floors will burn calories without you knowing it. What's better, after you are done, carry the bags home to lose the flab from your arms. And ditch the elevator. Climb up the stairs. This will engage and tone the muscles in your legs, arms and core. And it's weight training without going to the gym.
