My family has been coming here for more than two decades. It is a nice beach on a bay peninsula with a reeded area behind on the bay side.

The beach has nice sand, shells, birds, small fish, snd more. Kids love watching the sea life, making sand castles, and swimming. Life guard towers are present, but not always occupied.

There is a parking fee during the day. At night it is free if you want to watch a sunset or walk. Check the town schedule for fireworks. This is an ideal site to view them.

In all a good scenic beach.

      Terrible people run this joint.

On Thursday July 27 my child and I drove to West Dennis beach to spend the day with some friends and their 2 children. When we arrived there was a $30 fee collected by teens covering the entrance of the parking lot. It wasn't until we actually got to the beach that we noticed the dangerous high winds especially when we got out of the car. My child noted,"mom it feels like needles hitting my skin". So we picked up my friend and quickly left!

Chairs, umbrellas and beach items were being blown into the street where cars were parked and driving through. Her husband had left to take the kids back home bc their 4 and 6 year old kids were getting pelted by sand so badly it hurt and was getting in their eyes. Exiting the car my kid commented that the beach was not enjoyable because the high winds blowing the sand into us hurt and felt like needles. Needless to say we scurried to help my friend gather her belongings into our suv in which my child ran into the street to grab hats and her beach items that were blowing away. With that said, we stayed a maximum of 10 minutes before getting the heck out of that situation.

In exciting the parking lot I asked the teen/s that took my money to kindly refund me the $30. Noting the dangerous high winds they were aware of making the beach experience extremely unpleasant. The teen/s advised they could not give refunds regardless of the situation or they will get fired. I kindly asked to speak with their supervisor noting  again to her I was at the beach for 10 minutes to pick up a friend, we would have stayed longer but didn't expect dangerous high winds to ruin our day at the beach. In a monotone scripted tone she repeated they do not give refunds and instruct the teens collecting the $30 parking fee to not give refunds to guests whatsoever or they will be fired. I was shocked that a supervisor of superior authority would have equal status to the teens running the joint. I kindly asked to speak with her manager and she gave me the business card to Dustin Pineau the Beach director. As I left the teens were mocking us with sarcasm and laughing. Male teen shouted " Have a good day maam ... hahaha lolol"

Friday the following day, I made a call to Dustin (Director) who patiently listened to my concern for a few minutes that quickly turned into him undermining me and taking his employees side. I explained how my friends husband took their kids home as a result of the beach conditions.  The 10 minutes we were there was extremely unpleasant for a beach day and like any establishment you pay for you expect a service or experience we did not get or our money back. I explained beach chairs, umbrellas and misc beach items were flying into cars. Having a luxury car I wasn't waiting to have my car damaged by flying debris . Dustin started to become hostile claiming I should have known the winds were high when I went through the center of town. Stating there have been high winds since 10am and that I should known. I explained I didn't go through the center of town to get to the beach first if all and I was in a car and saw no such debris during my drive to the beach. He confirmed that management tells their staff not to give any refunds under any circumstances or they will be fired!  So therefore, he will not honor me a refund. When I asked him to kindly take down my name , phone number and address in case he had a change of heart he advised, " that's okay I don't need it!" I kindly asked him for his superiors name and he said, sure but know Gregory Roundsville (508 760 6164) is in charge of the town of Dennis and he is my close friend."

West Dennis Beach failed to post a warning to the guest or verbally communicate with guests entering that there were dangerous high winds and that there was a non refundable non negotiable refund in situations like so. It was 230pm and they didn't  think about closing the beach for the day bc making a buck was more important to them.

Less than a one star if I could....

Be sure that you see the sign third down on the pole and covered by a fence that dogs are not allowed ever- even in the parking lot. I understood that dogs were not allowed on the beach during the busy season but never that they were restricted at any time in the parking lots. The manager of the beach stated we should have seen the signs, which we did not, told us we would need to leave, and then refused to refund our $30 entrance fee after being there for 5 minutes... Keep up the great work, town of Dennis! Skip this beach. Go to Marconi Beach.

Rude and disrespectful people run this place

I paid $30 for parking to pick up a friend hoping we could stay and enjoy the beach together for a bit. When I arrived with there were dangerous high winds making the very short time (10 mins) we were there extremely unenjoyable and painful. In that short time we saw beach chairs umbrellas and beach items blowing into cars. Kids and people were running in the streets to salvage their belongings. When we asked for a refund we were abruptly told NO by 4 teens running the front entrance. I pleaded with them and they advised they would be fired if they gave anyone a refund. After speaking with their Supervisor who had little to no control over the situation, also advised if she gave a refund she would be fired and directed me to the Director who was less than pleasant to speak with. He abruptly admitted they absolutely give no refunds and will fire any of their staff who does!! He was intimidating me telling me he knows the town representative, IF I try and take this any higher. Is this a threat? We will never return here again! It is a shame since all US public beaches are few and monopolized by arrogant humans such as these savage baffoons.

      Beware:
      Overpriced experience
Arrogant and disrespectful people running the beach
NO refunds if your experience is ruined and no verbal warning
They do not educate and train their employees to warn you of beach conditions as you enter at own risk ( no signs or verbal warnings)
      They run a scam

Beautiful beach. Perfect spot for a nice walk any time of day or year. I'm a bit biased because my husband proposed to me on this beach at sunset. But that speaks for how beautiful it is. I have dipped my toes in the water after sunbathing but I don't think I'd go all the way in because there is often a lot of seaweed.

Bonus is that it's easy to get to on bike or foot from the surrounding area if you're nearby. Also, it appears many people like to park and read a book or just relax in their car because there are nice views when you pull up. I also love how many great seashells you can find here if you're into that. Lots of fun shells to make jewelry out of if you're feeling crafty!

Not many complaints about this beach. No matter what, it'll always hold a special place in my heart!

the beach itself is upper mid level imo. there's lots of horseshoe crabs around. the sand quality is upper mid too. wouldn't pay that high of a price for parking myself when there's other better beaches around for free or cheaper. would be nice to see the name of the beach change to horseshoe beach or something better lol.

A great beach in a wonderful location.

We have been going to this beach for over two decades. It is well maintained, has adequate parking, and located between the ocean and a salt marsh.

It is a great site for beach activities during the day. That location is a favorite of wind surfers. The North side marsh is a great site for bird watching. So bring a camera

At night, it is ideal for watching sunsets or the summer fireworks.

Disappointed as nothing but seaweed anywhere we tried to walk/swim. We left within the first half hour. Saving grace was the parking pass is usable at other Dennis beaches.

Meh...just ok. I think I must be spoiled. I live on the north shore of Long Island and we have some truly fantastic beach options. I really thought I would be blown away by the Cape beaches (judging it based on just this one beach that EVERYBODY was raving about.)
      The bad:
$30 to park. I'm not used to paying so much to go to the beach! This price apparently does not guarantee you lifeguards on a busy sunday afternoon.

Also, the guide states that there is a playground, when all there is just a sad swing set. I'm used to all of my local beaches having awesome playgrounds.

There is a concession stand which is a rip off too (are you surprised?)

      No live music either

(I'm telling you I'm spoiled and am used to all of the amenities aforementioned at every one of my local beaches!)

      The good:
The beach is clean and people make a great effort to carry out what they carry in. I was happily surprised by this!

      The beach is pretty

No harsh waves, which makes it good for kids.

They do supply (cleanish) bathrooms, changing areas and a spray shower for cleaning off at the end. No actual bath house here.
