Webinar description
Join us to explore the critical topic of executive presence. Leverage lessons learned from improvisation to think more quickly on your feet, listen and communicate with greater impact and connect with others in a more powerful way.
Whether you’re early in your career, looking to move up from middle management or are on the cusp of being recognized as a senior leader in your organization, this conversation is one you shouldn’t miss.
Annual Conference top-rated workshop leader Karen Hough is founder and CEO of ImprovEdge, LLC, and uses improvisation as a learning tool to help leaders adapt to the unexpected with both confidence and composure. Karen is the winner of the Stevie Silver International Award for Most Innovative Company of the Year and the Athena PowerLink award for an outstanding woman-owned business. She is author of Amazon #1 category best-seller, "The Improvisation Edge: Secrets to Building Radical Trust and Collaboration at Work," an award-winning second book, "Be the Best Bad Presenter Ever: Break the Rules, Make Mistakes, and Win Them Over" and is a contributor to the Huffington Post and Inc.com. Karen trained with Chicago’s Second City and enjoyed a career in stage, film and television, appearing in more than 100 live and filmed productions.
Contributing stories and sharing perspectives from her own distinguished career is Sue Foelix. Sue is Head, Gaucher Disease & Cross Lysosomal Storage Disorders at Genzyme, a Sanofi Company; prior to that, she was US VP and General Manager, Oncology for Sanofi. Originally a software engineer by training, Sue has more than 20 years’ experience in the healthcare industry, with executive roles at both large multinational organizations such as Sanofi as well as with small venture capital-backed organizations. The primary motivator throughout her healthcare career has been keeping the patient’s needs in the forefront and recognizing the difference that individuals can make in the lives of patients.
Moderating this conversation is Laurie Wessels, president of the Wessels Group. Ms. Wessels is a leader development coach, consultant and trainer. She works with executives, teams and emerging leaders, blending strategic planning and decision making, and leadership behaviors to enhance organizational effectiveness and sustainable leadership. Prior to coaching, she spent 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry. She is a past president of the HBA Chicago chapter and a member of the HBA Career Conversations team.
Note: Due to a last-minute change in travel schedule, Adele Gulfo, is unable to participate; the HBA thanks Sue for joining co-presenter Karen Hough and Moderator Laurie Wessels on this exciting program.
