Adele set to perform at the Super Bowl show as ‘desperate’ chiefs bid to land Brit star

Star being primed to follow in the footsteps of Beyonce and Bruno Mars if American Football bosses get their way

ADELE described it as the biggest gig of her life when she headlined Glastonbury’s iconic Pyramid Stage in June.

But she could soon be having a re-think.

The superstar is set to perform at the Super Bowl half-time show next year.

I can reveal American football bosses are desperately trying to land Adele for what is one of the world’s most-watched sporting events.

She would join the crème de la crème of icons who have performed in music’s most powerful slot, including PRINCE, MICHAEL JACKSON and the ROLLING STONES.

An NFL source said: “There is nobody bigger in the world than Adele right now and organisers are doing absolutely everything they can to try to persuade her to sign up. She’s sold out every date on her tour, everyone wants a piece of her and they know they can bank on her bringing in the viewers.

“It’s Adele’s nerves that are the issue — it hasn’t been an easy sell.”

In February, 115million US viewers tuned in to watch Coldplay, BEYONCE and BRUNO MARS unite for an explosive rendition of Uptown Funk at San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium, four million more than the actual game, which was the third most-watched broadcast in US telly history.

Next year American football’s showpiece will be held at Houston’s NRG Stadium in Texas on February 5 — one week before The Grammys.

Adele has made no secret of the anxiety she has had before going on stage. We revealed how her wobbles got so extreme before Glasto she didn’t arrive there until less than two hours before she was due to perform as she battled to take control.

However, Adele won’t have to face the US alone. While the NFL has declined to comment on the negotiations, I’m told ONE REPUBLIC could join her on the Super Bowl 2017 line-up, which means she’ll have comfort in friend and songwriter RYAN TEDDER.

At least Adele is getting in the practice, playing eight sold-out dates at LA’s Staples Centre in front of KENDALL JENNER and HAILEY BALDWIN, who turned out for the first night on Friday.

She has started to make her sets more telly-friendly too, following her F-word heavy Glasto set.

She told the LA crowd: “I’m trying to not swear so much. I see lots of mothers here, so forgive me if I do. I never mean it. Give me some moral support, guys.”
