FAQ - Troubleshooting

I (accidentally) blocked something. How can I unblock it again?

In Firefox:

  1. Select Firefox >> Add-ons (for Mac OS X / Linux, select "Tools" from the menubar >> "Add-Ons"), this will open your Firefox Add-ons Manager.
  2. Click on "Extensions", find Adblock Plus there, go to "Options" and then click on "Filter preferences...".
  3. At the top you will see the "Custom filters" tab where you find your own filters in filter groups.
  4. Right-click a group and choose "Show/hide filters" and this will show you the custom filters.
  5. Remove the respective filters from the right window. This should unblock the desired element again.

In Chrome:

  1. Click the Chrome menu button, then go to "Tools" and choose "Extensions".
  2. Find Adblock Plus there and click on "Options" under its description.
  3. Go to the "Add your own filters" tab. Here you can remove the custom filters.

  2. Find Adblock Plus there and click its small tool-icon on the right side and choose "Preferences".
  3. Go to the "Add your own filters" tab. Here you can remove the custom filters.

It could be that a malicious extension in your browser injects ads into webpages. Please read this guide how to detect such extensions and get rid of them.

Sometimes resetting Firefox or creating a new browser profile for Chrome works wonders.

If anything did not help, please report the websites with unblocked ads in our forum.
