One of the blogging goals that keeps eluding me is to build a stockpile of blog posts to pull from when my schedule gets out of whack. I seem to barely have enough time to get my scheduled posts done. Creating a bank of evergreen posts to pull from in an “emergency” is a priority that keeps getting pushed down my list of things to do. With summer quickly approaching, I realized that now, more than ever, I’d like to have a few extra posts set aside so I can enjoy spontaneous vacations and summer fun time with my family. I just needed to come up with a plan. Since I tend to be better at following through when I have others counting on me, and because everything is more fun when you’re surrounded by friends, I decided to launch a challenge to see if I could form a group of bloggers who can encourage and support one another in this goal.

Blog Post Stockpile Challenge

In preparation for this challenge, I have been amassing information from bloggers, books, courses, and webinars to put together a toolkit to make this job easier for all of us. I’ve also developed a simple plan to get us to our stockpile goals. I should warn you now that some of the suggestions might be hard to follow (e.g. only checking in on Facebook twice per day), but I have tested all of the recommendations and they really do work. So, if you are committed to creating a bank of blog posts, I know you will be successful if you follow the guidelines.

Blog Post Stockpile Challenge Details

If you would like to build your own stockpile of blog posts, I invite you to join me for this 6-week challenge. It’s completely free to join. In exchange for signing up you will get:

  • A plan for building a stockpile of blog posts in six weeks
  • Resources to help you build your stockpile (e.g. blog post ideas, blog post templates, streamlined writing system)
  • Support from a group of individuals committed to the same goal, facing similar struggles and obstacles
  • Weekly inspiration and tips
  • Accountability (i.e. peer pressure)

The challenge will officially begin on May 1 and ends June 12 so you can start your summer with a whole bank of blog posts from which to pull if you decide to take a family vacation or just want to enjoy a week outside instead of in front of the computer. You will set your own goal as far as how many posts you’d like to bank since each of us has a different idea of what makes a comfortable cushion.

How to Participate

Signing up is simple. First, just fill out the form at the bottom of this post. Then, join the Facebook group to meet the other challenge participants. The Facebook group is where we will share updates with one another and post resources and encouragement. I will also post the guidelines in the group (in addition to e-mailing them) so you can easily find them for reference. Every week I will email out new resources and a reminder to check in with the group and post your progress. There will be no public shaming, only support and encouragement.

  2. Sounds like a good idea and I am always finishing my post the day or two before. I should be keeping a stock pile.

  3. This is a wonderful idea and I love having stock pile posts. It is nice to be able to pre-scehdule posts so that I can work on other stuff or can focus on writing urgent requests without wondering if I am going to have content for each day of the week.

    • Heather, that is awe-inspiring. If you have posts up with tips on how you do it, you are welcome to share the links here or e-mail me and I can incorporate links to them in the challenge to send some of the participants your way to learn from a post stockpile master.
