Regardless of this, he considers himself as one of those people who believe that there is a future with analogue!

Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.
Actually there is no single most memorable experience in this Community that I can name. But there is something that I would like to tell you guys. We are doing this Lomography and analogue photography under the big headline “The future is analogue”, and in the end we are sharing our stuff on a digital platform in the internet. Isn’t this curious? Well – I found an explanation that works pretty well I think: Lomography is just a platform, a tool, something that allows us to experience a lot of wonderful things. And now let me get back to the question: I am still really stunned how many wonderful people make part of this Community. There is an intense concentration of creativity, of sympathy, of joy, of happiness. And each time we meet for shootings or whatever it’s always a great experience that I don’t want to miss in my very real – and analogue – life. And gosh, I had a lot of those experiences! :-)
Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.
Yes, there are definitely some people that became very dear friends. The most charming @borg_koenigin was the first one. Followed by her boyfriend, the verbal dadaist and extremly talented musician @onderbroek. And @moodification, one of the craziest guys I’ve ever met – who does not really match with the stereotype idea of a doctor.
And damn, if only there would not be these thousands of kilometers in between maybe I would consider the unique @-alia- as a close friend even in real life.
I don’t name all the other outstanding personalities I meet regularly. And I am sure that more friendships will grow with the time.
Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?
Yes! Definitely! These little photo machines are just too likeable! They brought me a lot of joy and even trouble. It’s a little like a human relationship. I cling to them, they cling to me. And I am very much indigenous. We won’t get divorced so quickly. I forgive them their malfunctions, they forgive me my incapacity – it’s the imperfection that sticks us together! ;-)
What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?
Actually I have two favourite cameras. Number one is the Horizon Perfekt. I like it because of the perspective. The results are very often really breathtaking – and I love to photograph wide open spaces and architecture in its urban context. Therefore the Horizon is my first choice.
The most memorable experience with this camera was the way I got it. A couple of years after I had seen a white (!) Horizon Kompakt in a shop in Berlin – my (ex-)girlfriend gave a black Perfekt to me as a birthday present years later. I had absolutely no idea, it was a real surprise. And it’s always memorable when people wonder about this strange machine that you are using.
Number two is the Lubitel U. It’s solid, it’s simple, that’s my style! And sometimes it creates the characteristic swirl in the blurred areas that I love. I am still trying to find out what I have to do to make this happen.
Memorable are always other people and digital photographers peeking on the Lubitel U, asking me from what century I came from on my way through time and space.
Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?
I don’t know if I am in the position to give advices, therefore I begin with a quotation:
Dalai Lama (cit.):„Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly“.
Ah, here I have one for you: Live your life, conscious of everthing and everyone it may affect, keep your eyes open, feel the spirit of the moment – and shoot!! The result will kick ass!
They are the ones whose passion transcends not only by what they do and say, but also with what they see and capture with their film cameras. And with such attributes aforementioned, they are what we call LomoGurus! Every week, we get to ask questions and reveal some insights with the most talented and productive of all Lomographers from the Community!
