GDPR is not complicated - I think it is actually quite simple

GDPR is not complicated - I think it is actually quite simple

GDPR and related ISO270xx can easily be translated into good behavior:

  1. If you want to borrow something - Ask nicely. Eg. a friend car. Same goes for private and company data
  2. Tell what you want to use it for. A road trip to Italy or just to go to work
  3. Don't use it for something else. Don't do street race or rent it out. Same goes for private and company data
  4. Take care of it protect it properly and don't get it stolen
  5. If you get it stolen or break it - Tell owner and authorities ASAP
  6. If you lost it and didn't protect it properly.... Then you have to pay

Yes there's a lot of work to be done but that is expected as we are trying to implement good behavior 20-30 years after we start sharing data online.

I don't think it is impossible to implement GDPR before May 2018 but extreme focus from top management and dedicated resources has to be a top priority from today.

What is your thoughts?

Concise and practical summary, as a lead into the detail. It would be great for all GDPR experts to communicate it in as an opportunity to embrace it as a source of competitive advantage, and not as the sword of Damocles.
