Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rescued 7,044 children in 2015, according to an RPF officer. "We are at the forefront of rescuing children lost or abandoned or victims of trafficking and abuse," the officer added. A Standard Operating Procedure to ensure the safety of children was issued by various ministries last year, and is being implemented across 20 railway stations.
