Get Down with The Wild Monk and Sing Autumn’s Song! 

Since our last newsletter a couple of great raw pu’er cake pressings came into being.  It is with great excitement that we introduce into our catalog of Mandala Tea exclusive pu’ers the 2014 Autumn Song and the 2014 Wild Monk.   

The 2014 Wild Monk is the follow-up to our very popular 2012 Wild Monk raw cake.  We used completely wild-grown autumn-picked from the same tea garden that gave us the original Wild Monk.  What a treat.  The reviews are already coming in and we can say this tea will tickle your taste buds and your fancy.  Sweet, with a hint of smoke (more subtle than the 2012 version) and a tea energy that is second to none! 

For the 2014 Autumn Song, we chose autumn 2013 mao cha from Da Hu Sai village.  This leaf is beautiful and is available in mao cha form and 100 gram pu’er cakes.  In lower temp, shorter infusions, this tea is reminiscent of gentle white tea, while hotter steepings will yield a bold cup that lovers of young raw pu’er will greatly appreciate.  The mao cha is also available and is in more limited quantity. 

We are also excited to announce the completion of a ripe pu’er blend named Temple Stairs.  It is a combination of ripened material from two different mountains in the Yunnan Province and it is a delight - one that will really open up in flavor and complexity over the next couple of years.  For now, we have it available to our customers in a loose leaf format.  This will soon arrive in 5 gram mini-tuochas and 100 gram cakes!  This will be the best mini-tuocha available.  These will begin arriving in the next 2 weeks.
