SANFORD, Maine — Sanford voters said “yes” to building a school that will cost a total of about $100 million. It’s believed to be the most expensive school project in state history.

The state would pay for $92 million of the project, and the city would pay more than $7 million in other amenities that the state won’t cover.

Sanford officials say property taxes aren’t expected to go up because of the costs savings from the new facility, including lowered energy costs.

Additional projects include upgraded turf field, new lighting, bleachers and additional parking. They were also approved.
