Eternal Mates #2

Claimed by a Demon King

Rate this book
The moment the demon King Thorne of the Third Realm set eyes on the mortal huntress Sable, he knew she was his fated one. The fiery, dangerous female awakened hungers he had never experienced before, a dark craving and passion that has consumed him in their time apart. As the lunar cycle wanes, she enters his world again and nothing will stand in the way of him claiming his forever with her—not the relentless assault from the Fifth Realm or the dark elf male determined to seduce her out of his grasp.

Intent on achieving the coveted position of commander at Archangel, Sable leads her small team into the dark underworld and the Third Realm, to a war where her allies are the very creatures she normally hunts—vampires, werewolves, and demons. Her eagerness to lead the deadly mission has everything to do with winning her promotion, and nothing to do with the kingdom’s brash, lethally seductive demon king—a king who stirred fierce desire and wildfire heat in her with just a look and an innocent touch when they first met, and has been in her wicked dreams ever since.

As the gathering storm between rivals unleashes irresistible passion that flares white-hot and the heat of the battle brings life-shattering realisations, can Sable place her duty before her heart? Or will she surrender to her deepest desires and be claimed by a demon king?

This is not supposed to be a long book. Thorne and Sable makes a great couple, while Thorne is super possessive and virile, Sable is always energetic and supportive even though she is annoying sometimes. But the author wandered around the some spot too much it gave me the feeling that it got nowhere. All in all, this was fun and hot !

I really enjoyed book 1, Kissed by a Dark Prince in the new Eternal Mates series by Heaton but I LOVED the follow book, Claimed by a Demon King. Why? Let me list the things I loved …

1. Virgin hero
2. Kick ass heroine
3. SMOKING dreams shared between hero and heroine
4. Hotter than hell sex between hero and heroine
5. Snarky humor
6. Great lead characters
7. Awesome secondary characters

We meant Throne and Sable in Kissed by a Dark Prince and by the ending it looked like Heaton was sitting us up for a love triangle between Throne, Sable and Bleu. Not true, so don’t let any dislike of that troupe stop you from reading Claimed by a Demon King. Yes the two fine specimen of male hotness fight over Sable’s attention but it’s not a true love triangle. (Although I was hoping for a little 3-way action but that didn’t happen.)

Claimed by a Demon King takes about a month after Kissed by a Dark Prince, both Sable and Throne can’t stop thinking about the other. Throne knew at first sight that Sable was his fated mate but with his inexperience with females he didn’t know how to win over Sable. He knew that the usual demon way of taking their fated one (even by force) would not win Sable’s heart and that’s what he wanted most. So he backed off and focused on the upcoming war his people were about to enter with other demon king.

Sable has never been in a relationship. She preferred to have her fun with men and then move on. Her growing feelings for Throne was creeping her out and she would not admit to them even to herself. But she saw what her BFF Olivia had with her fated mate, Loren and was jealous of it at times and wondered what it would be like to have that kind of relationship for her very own.

Sable and her team of fighters go with the elves lead by Loren to the Hell realm to help Throne’s army of demons in the war. Sable has to remind herself she is there to lead her team and not get hot and sweaty with the demon king she can’t get off of her mind.

Claimed by a Demon King is full of battles on and off the battlefield. Loved how Throne and Sable came together for their HEA and I can’t wait to read more about some of the characters we’ve meant along the way. I have my fingers crossed at Grave, Vail (I’ve a pretty good idea who your fated mate is) and Bleu get their own books. And I’d love to see one about a naughty kidnapping dragon.

After reading and seeing some of the VET series characters having cameos I need to read the final book in that series about Snow.

Fans of Kresley Cole’s demons in the Immortals After Dark series will love Thorne.

4.5 Stars!

Loved it. Loved it! LOVED IT!!! Like the 1st book in the series, I absolutely adored this one, though slightly more because I like Sable a bit more then Olivia. If you've read the 1st book in the series you'll remember Sable as the average bad ass heroine we all know and love who's even more bad ass (and stubborn) than you imagine. I'm not the best at writing reviews for books that aren't the 1st in a series so I'll keep this somewhat short.

Characters
If you love Sable in the first book, you'll love her in the second. As I mentioned above, she's still bad ass, she comes with some new shocking secrets and hidden potential, and she's just as loving and caring towards the ones she loves most (which is very few if you recall correctly). Be warned though, because she's just as stubborn and resistant (if not more) than Olivia was in the first book so be prepared to be absolutely frustrated with Sable for not embracing her ever growing feelings for Mr. Hotty Demon King Thorne. SPEAKING OF THORNE, I love him just a bit more than Loren in that Thorne embraced his attraction for Sable a bit faster and more eager than Loren. I mean Loren did have a reason to resist, but technically Thorne did too...

Anyways, though Thorne can act like a total caveman at times, his feelings for Sable are pure and respectful which a girl can't help but love. His understanding of Sable's personality and respect for her decisions, or at least most of them (remember: caveman tendencies!), leaves him to be a likable leading male character.

Romance/Erotica
It's a beauty and the beast type of romance...if beauty were a demon killing, bad ass heroine and the beast was a royal demon. Nonetheless, you can't deny the palpable sexual (and romantic) tension between the two (ESPECIALLY the sexual tension). I was a tiny bit disappointed in the romance because there was slightly less romantic scenes than I was hoping for (which was understandable since you know, they're at war...), but I'm a hopeless romantic who was just hoping for a tiny bit more romantic scenes to back up the romance between the two. Still, I don't deny the feelings the two feel for each other that go beyond the erotic dreams.

Speaking of erotic, expect the sexy scenes to be as wild and steamy as the first book ;)

If you're debating whether or not to read this book, debate no further as it is a MUST. If you've read this series before and loved it, read this one because you'll love it just as much if not more than the first. If you're new to the series, I highly recommend you dive into this series if you LOVE romantic paranormal adult romances. You got romance, bad ass independent females, sexy male leads (with abs I might add), wild sex, and, uh, sexy guys. The 2nd book is written that it's just barely enough to be a standalone as you technically don't need to know about Loren and Olivia's relationship to completely understand what's going on in this book (as Ms. Heaton provides enough info to refresh the memories of previous readers and inform new ones about what's what), but I still strongly recommend reading the first one as it's best to know everything.

That being said, I can't wait to see where this story will be going next! Until then, I desperately await to find out who's story is next, though I have some pretty good ideas ;)

The romance in CLAIMED BY A DEMON KING felt a bit like a caveman trying to woe a modern day woman, and as odd as that may sound, it actually works well when paired with vampires, werewolves, and elves. Thorne is hella sexy with his retractable horns, impressive wingspan and sharp claws, and Sable brings a whole new meaning to the expression “good things come in little packages.” I enjoyed the back-and-worth between this unlikely couple, learning more about Felicity Heaton’s demon realm, and that the last three-quarters of this book is one big supernatural free-for-all. Yes, this story has a little something for everyone.

One of my favourite things about starting any new series is the world-building; in KISSED BY A DARK PRINCE we learned about the elves that make up Heaton’s ETERNAL MATES universe, and book 2 is all about Hell a.k.a. the demon realm. I liked how everything in Thorne’s kingdom felt larger than life; from his castle, to his army, to the man himself. I was surprised to learn that there are no demon females and that their fated ones are usually mortal. It was an interesting way to make a three thousand year old virgin believable and helped add a vulnerable side to these seemingly invincible preternaturals. I was also super fascinated by the king’s horns, they are in constant flux, and I couldn’t help but think dirty thoughts every time the author referenced them.

It’s not very often that I fall instantly in love with a fictional character, and a secondary one at that, but there’s just something about Bleu—he’s arrogant, unapologetic, and manipulative. Given the title of this book, I knew that Thorne and Sable were going to end up together, but it was fun watching the elf compete for the heroine’s affections. Even more characters get added to the mix in this novel, including Grave and Night which have to be some of the most ironic vampire names ever but made for a few interesting jokes. Snow from Heaton’s VAMPIRE EROTIC THEATRE series also makes a cameo appearance; I haven’t tackled these novels yet but after meeting this savage animal, I’ll definitely be rectifying that sooner rather than later.

I like how both of the main characters were hardcore alphas, and that neither of them wanted to give an inch, even for love. In this world, a couple knows they are eternal mates when they start having naughty dreams about each other so even though the sex was a long time in coming, there’s still plenty of sultry dream scenes to keep Paranormal Romance readers satiated. Thorne quickly endeared himself to me with his willingness to do things Sable’s way which for a king, seems like a pretty impressive feat in itself. The huntress went through an equally life-changing transformation from demon slayer to future queen of her enemies, and a few shocking truths from her past helped to complicate things even further along the way.

Epic demon battles, surprise allies, and, fun cameos, made this book an all around fab read. CLAIMED BY A DEMON KING will leave you hoping that there is a Hell, and that Thorne has a brother!

Hell Never Looked So Good

Felicity Heaton has only been on my reading radar for all of a nano second, but nonetheless, she is quickly creeping her way to the top of the ladder, finding her place on my Favourite Paranormal Romance Writers Of All Time list. That's quite a statement to make after only two books, but so far, she hasn't put a foot wrong for me.

I think a lot of it comes down to my personal feeling about a certain type of Alpha male. This is a tricky area, which can either make or break my enjoyment of a PNR. I would say if you're a fan of Kresley Cole's heroes, who are very male, controlled by slightly Neanderthallic instincts of protectiveness and "claiming", but are ultimately good people, who love their fated ones beyond all others and all reason, then you'll enjoy Heaton's style too.

You may recall the heroine, Sable, as the BFF of Olivia from book one. Although she's her opposite in almost every way; hard where Olivia is soft, fearless, strong, and a total badass. You know, for a human, anyway. She finds herself the object of not one immortal warrior's affection in Claimed by a Demon King, but two! However, only one is serious about making her his for eternity, and that's King Thorne.

Do you remember Thorne from book one? He appeared in his slightly scary demonic form at the Archangel lab (I think that was where it was) and had a very unnerving reaction to Sable. Of course, we now know that reaction was him recognizing his fated one. I just loved how Thorne tried to give Sable as long as demonically possible to come to terms with the fact that she was his. Not only that, he did everything to make her stay at his home more enjoyable. Trying to make her "hung over" food after she indulged too much on demon spirits from Hell. Quite literally. He was the most adorable demon and a beautiful man. And a virgin to boot! *dies of hormones*

Sable was amazing too. She coped admirably with all the changes despite her reticence, and was a formidable ally for Thorne. There was also more to her supernatural ability to sense danger, which was a very interesting twist that also had the benefit of introducing us to new characters and broadening the scope of the worldbuilding even further.

Do you know who kind of annoyed me in this one? Olivia! And I loved her in her own book!. But she was doing that thing where they know they're the weak link and need protecting, but insist on going with their mate to every dangerous situation, and pouting when they say "not a chance"! Ack!

Oh well. As you can see, that wasn't nearly enough to dull my enjoyment, and it's another five star rating for book two of the Eternal Mates series. Bring on the next!

I expected to love this book way more than the first book, firstly because I loved both MC there and I was excited for their book, secondly DEMON KING , heck yeah!! I love demon books.
Well..it wasn't exactly as I expected because I couldn't form any kind of attachment with the heroine Sable.
In my opinion Sable is cold, self absorbed and a user. Yep, she used both Throne and Bleu, didn't made her feelings clear (only in her head, but even there it was a bit unclear) to neither of them for quite a while, which resulted in them fighting alot over her.
Throne is a big softie, charming and sweet and 4000 yo VIRGIN 😲😊😍😍😍 he deserved better.
The plot continues with the war with the 5th Realm, and although it kinda end in this book I assume its gonna go on for a few more books because of the "kidnapped" parties. I like that there is action, twists, great cast of secondary characters( I m looking at you Grave, Bleu) and steamy sexy times.

Also, this author needs to chill down with "moist nub" "petals" "moist breath" "rod" and other as such appelatives. Not sexy at all. I even asked a second opinion from my hubby about him saying from now on "I wanna lick your petals" and we both decided that we would burst out laughing and ruin the moment...sooo..yeah, that's that, but I suppose its a matter of taste 🤣🤣🤣

And now, because I flove me a mad, troubled anti hero, will continue with the 3rd book, which is Loren's brother Vail.

Felicity Heaton has out done herself!!! This book is awesome!

I am super excited about this series. Ms. Heaton had made this world magnificently full of big bad sexy paranormal warriors. Everywhere you look there are sexy dark vamps, elves, shifters, and damn hot demons. She has even added dragons and witches into the mix. Ms. Heaton again wrote an action packed, sinfully sexy and definitely a romantic read. This has to be her best work yet!!!

I did not expect the next hero was Thorne the Demon King. I actually thought it was Bleu since he openly flirted and protected Sable in Kiss by a Dark Prince. Obviously, I was wrong. Sable did have very intense moments with Thorne which totally pissed Bleu off. If you thought there would be a fight to win Sable’s hands, you were right. Thorne and Bleu’s fight for Sable’s heart was super cute, but from the beginning she knew whom she wanted. Nevertheless Bleu’s attempt was very sweet just the same.

I looooove Thorne for how he loves and cares. I love that he was observant and always taking notes on how to win and, please his mate. I adored that he respected her and let her be who she is. He acknowledged she was a good warrior. Yet when given the time, he treated her like a total female. Of course, he is super sexy and very strong; a powerful warrior and ruler. Well respected by his followers and the surrounding realms. Sable is one lucky bi*tch. Not only that she has the kick ass career she always wanted, she lands a sexy Demon to boot. Though human, she knows how kick immortal ass. Any heroine that can put up a fight with immortal beings earns my respect. Sable can definitely do that, and with her hidden talent, she adds value during combat.

Honestly, I wasn’t too sure on where Ms. Heaton was taking this world to but she made one a thing clear from book one; the hate between the elves, vamps, demons and shifters were strong. She’s made this world bigger than what I expected, and it’s even clearer the war brewing between the realms. Thorne certainly is the right track trying to make an alliance with the surrounding kingdoms. Though not even close to world peace but surely is a great start.

I’m most excited about the family feud between the pure blooded vamps, Grave and Night. Apparently, they are related to Snow from Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance series. Looks like there are centuries of bad blood there.

Loren’s brother, Veil made an appearance. It was brief, but he certainly made his presence known. It’s clear that he is messed up in the head. His story is up next and I have a feeling that it will be a heart wrenching one. Thought Ms. Heaton herself mentioned that readers will be upset with his treatment of his mate. I can totally see him being that way. Let’s see how Ms. Heaton bring him to his knees long enough to fall for his heroine.

If you like Thea Harrison’s Elder Races and Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series, you’ll enjoy Ms. Heaton’s Eternal Mate series.

This series is just getting better. I really enjoyed Kissed by a Dark Prince and book 2 Claimed by a Demon King did not disappoint! I love the fact that Thorne is not confident in his ability to woo and treat Sable the way his fated mate deserves. The fact that Thorne watches how Loren interacts with Olivia as well as how other mated males treat their mates to get an idea of what is appropriate just made me smile. He is often at a loss in the beginning as to how to get and give what he wants when it comes to Sable. However, his ignorance was pure bliss. He figures things out just fine! Thorne has no lack of "alpha-ness" but his lack of hands on experience with females definitely leaves him flummoxed and sure of his ability to make mistakes when it comes to claiming his mate. I love that he wants to please her so badly and not take away from the fact that Sable is a strong fighter in her own right. Never fear! A Demon King with strength of body and heart proves that a determined male will find a way.

Sable's character really grew on me in this book. As Olivia's best friend in book 1 she of course didn't get too much development so it was nice to see who she is and her back story is awesome. I also loved that she didn't play Bleu's affection for her against Thorne. It would have been easy for Sable to use her relationship with Bleu to keep Thorne at arms length. I also loved that Sable's desire for independence and acknowledgement of her own strengths did not keep her from acknowledging the attraction and pull towards Thorne. There is no way that Sable will allow herself to give up all that she has worked for and it makes for nice tension. Sable also has a big change that takes her and everyone else by surprise

One of the things that I enjoyed most about this second installment are the secondary characters. I need to read more about them! I'm sure that everyone will be looking for a book for Bleu, but I would also like to see Vail's story and even a story for Grave Van der Garde. Is it wrong to want to see this dangerous vampire find a mate that will tame all of that hostility and aggressiveness? Oh, werewolves and dragons! Just the idea of bringing in dragon shifters makes me happy, happy, happy! And you can't go wrong with alpha werewolves! You would think that so many creatures would make for confusing and difficult reading, but no, Heaton does this all with finesse. I really liked Kissed by a Dark Prince, but Claimed by a Demon King checked all my boxes and now I can't wait to see what Heaton has in store for us next! It's paranormal goodness overload!

“Claimed by his angel queen”
Claimed by a Demon King Felicity Heaton
Okay just to put this out there, I’m really enjoying Felicity Heaton’s series “Eternal Mates”. After reading book #1 “Kissed by a Dark Prince” I could not wait for the release of “Claimed by a Demon King.” You kind of got an inkling that the book was going to be Thorne Demon King of the Third Realm’s.
Claimed by a Demon King opens where Thorne is asking for help from his allies to save his kingdom and his people. If you love paranormal, smexy action filled reads you will love this book. You have vamps, werewolf’s, dragon shifters, bear shifters, witches, sorceress’s, angel’s and something called a rakshasa (now this was one strange dude). We had some of our favorite characters from Kissed by a Dark Prince in the mix and even a few new ones added in.
Sable is one fiery feisty mouthy Huntress, and for being human (or is she) can battle with the best of them. She tried to convince herself she was taking her team to the Third Realm to help Thorne save his Realm and people from Frayne King of the Fifth Realm and to prove to the Archangel’s she was worthy of a Commander position. BUT deep down inside she wanted to see the hunk she’s been dreaming of every since they met.
I loved the jealousy going on between Bleu and Thorne over Sable. But truly Sable was Thorne’s intended Mate and Bleu just wanted a roll in the hay and he was intrigued by this little human and her abilities. But when confronted by Sable and asked if he loved her his response was I could love you.
The battle was fierce and an unexpected turn of events during the battle was Vail “Mad Elf Prince” (Loren’s brother cursed/spelled and controlled by a witch) showed up to protect his brother’s mate. Olivia was to stay in the castle but she left with Rosalind (a sorceress helping Thorne with his wards around his castle) when Rosalind felt she needed to be down on the battlefield. The women were being attacked by demon’s and witches and Vail appeared and fought to protect. Now just a tid bit of information; when Thorne, Sable and Bleu went to meet with Rosalind in the Human Realm, Rosalind was freaking out when she saw the Elf. Apparently she saw her future and did not want to look upon the Elf. Vail to reiterate is Loren’s brother and called the Mad Elf Prince.
You need to pick up your copy of “Claimed by a Demon King” to find out what Sable found out about her father and mother. Where does Sable’s special powers come from. Why did the Dragon Shifter become mesmerized with Sable and Anais another Huntress and abduct Anais. Who abducted the little sorceress? Was it Vail? What’s up with Grave and his cousin in the Human Realm? This read will have your imagination running all over the place. I totally loved it. I loved how it ended with Thorne and Sable, but I’m sure we’ll see them in other reads of this series. In my eyes Felicity you have a home run series again. Kudos!!

My first thought after reading this book: That was good!!

You can see my review also here: http://loveandlivetoread.wordpress.co...

**The author gave me this book in exchange for an honest review**

I always enjoy a good paranormal romance and this book was no exception! I’ve read the first in this series a couple of months ago and I was looking forward for this one too! The story continues from where the first one stopped and now it’s time to learn the story of Thorne and Sable.

I have to admit that the author writes about the most badass and alpha male demons I’ve ever read! And, of course, sexy as hell (pun intended!). But what I liked most is the fact that the women here are not damsels in distress, but fierce ready to fight not only for their men but for anyone who need it.

Thorne is a force of nature! Protective and possessive don’t even come close to describe his need to be the only man in Sable’s life. I admired him because he didn’t want to change her in order to keep her. He wanted her as she was and he was happy to have a strong woman by his side.

Sable is badass woman! She’s not the woman who will stay behind when there is danger. She will fight until her last breath. Also, I found adorable the fact that she can be clumsy sometimes because that made her more real!

The plot was very good, the characters interesting and the action non-stop! My only complaint is that there were so scenes with too many details that I didn’t find that important. Nevertheless, it’s a very good paranormal romance that all the fans of this genre must read!

Book one of this series could easily be read as a stand alone... but I probably would not recommend reading this second installment without having read the prior book... "Kissed by a Dark Prince". Just FYI... :)
The characters in this series have really grown on me... in particular the strong female characters who are more like alpha-females. They are independent, strong and fighters. And just like book one... I found it extremely entertaining watching this Alpha Male Demon King fighting his physical desire to claim his eternal mate... who isn't just going to come strolling into his arms just because he is tall, dark and deadly. Sable is a real challenge for Thorne. And, Sable is also very divided between her closeness to the Elf warrior Bleu, possibly having to give up her place at Archangel and also struggling with her own identity. The author pulls out a big surprise for us in regards to Sable... I liked the change in her character. Her character has so much more potential now.
In book two we pick up exactly where we left off in book one with the Elf Prince and the Archangel bunch coming together to help The Demon King Thorne in his war. When they arrive in the Demon's realm there are some new characters that pop up and we have a nice mixture of werewolves, vampires, demons, elves, witches and humans all coming together to help in the war.
And, I am a little excited at how this book ended... are we going to get a dragon shifter next?? I hope so... that sounds like a fun story already!
I am a huge fan of this series... fun characters, creative storyline... and it's alpha-males vs. alpha females... love it!

Felicity Heaton does it again - 5 star read

What a book, great characther, great story with a blooming romance at its midst. It's not all romance, love and sex though there a war to be fought!

This book starts up soon after Kissed by a Dark Prince finishes, we have the adorable Loren and his mate all over this story too, you can't get enough of Loren. Bleu play a part too along with lots of other strong characthers. Including werewolves and vamps.

Back to the main purpose Sable, an employee of Archaeangel a warrior who,has worked hard to find her place and now she has, she's leading her human fighters into hell to help a Demon King.

Thorne, a seemingly stubborn yet warm and caring King of Demons, you find out so much more of the sexy king as the book goes on, I especially love his horns!

This is book 2 of the Eternal Mates Series, so guess what there destined to be together and it's a fabulous journey, made even better by the other characthers in the background.

A must read for Felicity Heaton fans and all PNR fans

5 Demonish Stars.

It was all I expected to be and more! After reading the first book in the series, I didnt think any character could come close to swaying me from my 'Vail' Thorne how ever defied everything I expected from a strong, overbearing, controlling Demon King...Who knew the gentle giant would be willing to walk the mortal world for coffee, bacon and eggs just to win the heart of his fated female Sable.
Sable the 'Kick Ass' hunter, hopelessly failed at removing Thorne from her thoughts and dreams...a simple touch from their first meeting has left her unsettled. It was amusing to find her in the centre of Thornes and the Elf commander Bleu's macho rivalry. Both mens ego's made for some interesting antics to win her heart, all the time feuling Thorne's constant struggle with wanting to claim her as his mate against her wishes!
Not to reveal any more...as I think you really need to experience this amazing read for youself, I will say that it is beautifuly written like all of Felicity's books. She now has me pinning for Vails book, curious about Snows cousin Grave, a huntress Anais and a young werewolf Kyal!

Rating: 4.5 rounded up to 5

I'd been looking forward to this book since the ending of book one set it up a rather interesting exchange between Sable and Thorne, the Demon King of the Third Realm.

Sable, one of Archangel's best hunters and Olivia's best friend, had a fierceness about her that instantly drew me to her. Her prowess on the battlefield finally found a stage in this book, and I loved that she could hold her own against mortals and others alike. Orphaned at a very young age, Sable never knew her parents. It was her unique ability to detect demons that put her on Archangel's radar and they eventually recruited her. Seeing as they were the only family she'd ever known, she strived to work hard and make her superior proud.

Thorne was a really sweet character. He was big, powerful, a bit of a caveman, a softie when it came to Sable, and he was a virgin. He was utterly adorable, for lack of a better term, in his attempts to try and gain her affection. The traditional and antiquated methods of his kind would never have worked on the independent warrior female, which made him step up his game. As if trying to impress his fated mate wasn't challenging enough, Bleu was a constant thorn in his side. Bleu seemed to have an interest in her as well, landing Sable smack dab in the middle of a testosterone battle. The most amusing squabble involved the simple task of getting Sable some morning coffee and trying to one up each other.

I loved this pairing. Thorne was a warrior, used to fighting all the time to be a worthy leader as his father had once been. His character had a lot of nuances that made him feel like a fleshed out character. Sable was his equal in every way, and the thought of her fighting by his side, instead of being tucked away for her safety, packed a lot of appeal. I enjoyed their moments of ferocity as well as the more vulnerable ones. They showed where they were naturally compatible (outside of the fact that they were fated mates) as well as where they would need to work on their relationship. If I had one complaint, it was that Sable took much too long to put both males in their place and set boundaries. At the very beginning of the story, her character was given a leadership position that she took very seriously. I felt that she failed in asserting herself and that she was leading them both on. Sure, she'd been around Bleu and trained with him long enough for a friendship to form, but even after Loren told her that Bleu wasn't interested in her as a mate but more of an itch to scratch, she could have told him to cool his heels. Instead she was sad when he began to ignore her, feeling that she'd chosen Thorne over him. And yet she got mad at Thorne quite often, but never at Bleu. I thought that was a little cold on her part.

The push and pull between Thorne and Sable was lengthy. She was in lust with him but didn't want the bond. When she finally gave up and declared her love for him, it sort of came out of left field. I didn't see what had changed her mind. I could guess, but in the flow of the story, I didn't see it coming.

As usual, Ms. Heaton packed a lot of action and interesting twists into this story that balanced out the romance. I loved the surprising discovery of Sable's heritage and her new, unique power. I can't to find out more about that in the coming books. I was also intrigued by the hostile vampire, Grave Van der Garde and his apparent hostility towards females. Then there was also the witch Rosalind and her fear of the Elf Prince. I have my suspicions about her vision and can't wait to see if I'm right. Even though I loved this story, I still preferred Loren and his appearing/disappearing suit of armor *fans self*. I got my cake and ate it too.

The Bottom Line

This series is wonderful in the world building department, filled with intriguing and very likeable characters, hot sex and packs a punch with action scenes. Add to that the smooth flow, good pacing and well-written plots; it has become a fast favorite with me and can stand among my other favorites such as Larissa Ione's Demonica, Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld and Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series. I highly recommend it, I will be purchasing this for my personal collection, and I will read it again. Don't pass up the opportunity to get caught up in this new and exciting world between Earth and Hell.

Favorite Lines

"And there is a cure for this...hung over?"
The female nodded. "Bad food."
That did not make sense to Thorne. Were all human females as confusing as Sable and Olivia?
"Food she does not like or food that is decomposing?" His frown hardened. "Is this some sort of self-punishment? Because I will not allow it."

***

Sable required a different approach. He couldn't force her into a bond. She was strong, independent, and hunted his kind for a living. If he tried to follow his instincts, he would end up more than empty handed. He would end up dead.

***

I want you to be mine...forever...Thorne. I want to claim you."
He grinned. Typical of his female that she could not give him possession of her, instead requesting possession of him. He could go along with that. He would be the first demon to let a female claim him.

I really enjoyed Kissed by a Dark Prince and have been looking forward to reading this sequel ever since, Felicity Heaton has certainly got a hit on her hands with her Eternal Mates series and Claimed by a Demon King was just as good as I thought it would be. We already met both Sable and Thorn in the previous book but I really enjoyed getting to know them both better here.

Sable is a demon hunter for Archangel, she has spent years training with the single goal of becoming one of their commanders and now is her chance to prove herself. She has been put in charge of leading a team of hunters to the underworld where they have agreed to help the demon king Thorn protect the Third Realm and win the war against his enemies. She will do whatever it takes to make sure her mission is a success, especially as it almost guarantees her a promotion when she returns home at the end. Thorn's realm has been at war for centuries but with the help of the elves, vampires, werewolves and hunters he hopes to finally bring peace to his people. The first time he saw Sable he knew she was his eternal mate but as much as he wishes to claim her he doesn't want to force her into something she isn't comfortable with, as the danger increases he must decide what is more important though - claiming Sable or protecting his people.

We had already seen Thorn's attraction to Sable in the first book so it was no surprise to discover that he had recognised her as his mate. What did surprise me was that he was so willing to go slowly with Sable and let her take the lead in their relationship. He recognised how special she was and he knew that forcing her into something that she wasn't ready for would just break things between them beyond repair. Sable is a warrior, someone who is fierce and proud and she wouldn't take kindly to being pushed too far. I loved how she is prepared to stand up for herself and for those she cares about, once she realises that she has feelings for Thorn she wants to prove that she is strong enough to be his queen and that she will fight for him just as much as he fights for her. What I love about this series is that although you have soul mates who recognise each other immediately the couples still take time to get to know each other and you get to see them gradually fall in love. There may be instant attraction because of their bond but the respect, friendship and love takes time to grow. Sable and Thorn are both strong characters, they are both fighters and they both like to be in control so it isn't easy for either of them to hand the reins to someone else but in spite of that they learn to trust in each other so they can build something special together.

I said in my review of Kissed by a Dark Prince that I wanted to see more of Loren's right hand elf Bleu and I was granted my wish in this one. He is determined to fight Thorn for Sable's affections and he takes great pleasure in pushing things which drives Thorn crazy. I have to admit that Bleu's attitude had started to annoy me a little here though. I would have respected him more if I'd thought he was crazy in love with Sable but I never felt they were anything more than friends, in fact it was seemed seemed more like Bleu thought she was a challenge than that he wanted to be with her forever. Luckily once Sable has made it perfectly clear she isn't interested in him he backs off a bit and was more like is usual self which made me like him again. I do really hope that we'll get to see his story at some point in the series but I have a feeling it won't be any time soon. It hasn't been announced yet who will be the next couple in the series but I have picked up on at least 2 couples who I think might get their own books and I'm looking forward to seeing if I'm right or not.

Alongside the fabulous romance this story also contains a lot of action and some great battle scenes. While the first book focuses on the elves this one is all about the demons but it also introduces us to other new species who I think we'll be seeing a lot more of in the future (I REALLY want to see more of the dragons!!). We get to catch up with characters from the previous book (there are some lovely scenes with Loren and Olivia along with a reappearance of a wounded warrior who I'm already crazy about!) and if you've read Felicity Heaton's Vampire Erotic Theatre series you'll see some cameos from your favourite old characters too. I can't wait to see where this series goes next and I'm looking forward to seeing if any of my couple predictions come true.

Claimed by a Demon King is book 2 in the Eternal Mates series from Felicity Heaton. Following on directly from the end of book 1, this is Thorne and Sable's story and it is as hot & explosive as I expected it to be!!!

Sable is a demon-hunter working for Archangel. Thorne is a Demon and the King of the Third realm in Hell.
(I have to admit that while I love Loren and Olivia from book 1, Sable & Thorne are definitely my faves of the series so far!!!)

The attraction between the 2 leads was evident when they first met in 'Kissed by a Dark Prince' and it is still as bright & hot from the get-go in Claimed.

While Sable is aware of the whole Mate issue - having seen & heard of how Loren pursued Olivia - she is closed off to having her own HEA - hell, she isn't looking for a relationship, never mind a mate - and she does all she can to ignore her attraction to Thorne!
Poor Thorne, he knows that Sable is his fated one and will stop at nothing to win her round. Tough gig he's been handed there, he'll need all the luck he can get!!!

When we catch up with Thorne in Claimed he has requested the assistance of Loren and his Elven army as well as a Team from Archangel to help him in the battle against the King of the Fifth Realm and his army. This is just the beginning of an exciting adventure for the characters!!

Most of this book takes place in Hell where the war between the 3rd and 5th Realms - as well as the one in Sable's heart - continues to pick up pace..

If you remember the guest appearance from a couple of well loved characters in 'Kissed' you'll be more than a tad delighted when you see who pops up in Claimed... (I'm saying no more, you'll just have to read the book and work it out for yourself!!) ;)

As we have come to expect, Felicity has given us a story that is fast paced, full of action, intrigue & adventure - with a feisty kick-ass heroin & a decidedly determined demon.
Filled with loads of passion, heat & romance as well as a touch of humour Claimed is a brilliant addition to the Eternal Mates series. With the addition of witches (light & dark), werewolves & vampires and the introduction of some new and very interesting characters, we have loads to think about for future books.

Claimed By A Demon King is a solid 5* read for me and I can't wait for the next instalment!!

I would suggest that you read Kissed By A Dark Prince before you start Claimed though it could be read as a standalone.

Claimed By A Demon King is book 2 in the Eternal Mates Series.

If you haven’t read book 1 “Kissed By A Dark Prince” you should, especially if you’re into the many different Species in this Genre, I really loved the first book but this one was so much more.

This is about the journey of a Demon King Known as Thorne of the Third Realm and a Kiss Ass Demon Hunter Sable of the Archangel Organisation, Sable has been selected to command an Army of Hunters to help out King Thorne is this Battle.

in the first book there were a few “subtle” hints that this pair were attracted to each other and as far as King Thorne was concerned Sable is his Fated one and he wants to claim her as his and his alone, but one totally Smoking Hot Elf maybe in the way, a rocky road ahead and a huge Battle as the Fifth Realm try to take over the Third Realm results in many different Species helping out along the way and some old friends from a previous series will also appear in cameo roles ( If you’ve read Felicity’s Erotic Vampire Theatre series you will know what/who I mean)!!

The struggles along the way for King Thorne trying to save and protect his Realm and his Love for Sable really makes this a hard book to put down, the chemistry between Thorn and Sables was exciting and Thorne being a Demon and set in his ways was rather enjoyable and in one of the chapters it was quite sweet watching him try to fathom how to treat Sable the way she should be treated and I loved the bit in the story where they have to sit down and eat a meal it was quite touching and endearing to read ((and a little funny too)! Oh and by the way… Thorne’s Horns are very sensual and one stroke will lead to some rather explosive Steamy scenes.

Now if you Love Elves, Demons, Vampires Witches and Dragons and a few more that I haven't mentioned then you are going to really love this book. With all these different Species it was like a Chocolate Selection box, which one will you choose to fall in Love with?

I definitely would recommend this book to those who Love the Paranormal World there’s such a selection of different Species and more to come in the next book too I think.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

~ 5 Demon King Stars ~

ARC Review

Felicity Heaton knows how to pull an audience in. Every book I pick up from her I don't want to put down. Claimed by a Demon King is book two in the new Eternal Mates series. I enjoyed the first book, Kissed by a Dark Prince , but I absolutely LOVED the following book, Claimed by a Demon King.

We get lots of action, fantasticily written fight scenes, wonderful character development, virgin hero, kick ass heroine and hot hot sex. I enjoy how distributive the author is in describing the sex scene’s as well as the action. It makes it easy to imagine and believe in the world, characters and plot.

Sable is a great kick ass heroine and complemented King Thorne. Thorne needs a strong battle ready women at his side and Sable fits that part. I enjoyed the relationship development as well as a few surprises along the way like learning about Sable’s parent and discovering that she is more then just a human. (No I won’t tell you. You will have to read the book to find out) We also get great sexual tension and some fantastic shared sex dreams. I also enjoyed the cameo appearance at the Vampire Theater. I was unsure in the last book if it was set in the same world/time as her other books and now I know.

If you have not picked up this series, I highly recommend you do! I also suggest checking out her other works! Felicity Heaton is a master at drawing us in, building our imagination and taking us on a kick ass adventure with the right amount of hot sex and romance.

Claimed by a Demon King is a hot, adrenaline fuelled read. I was really looking forward to this book after being introduced to King Thorne and Sable in Kissed by a Dark Prince. As such, this book was completely worth the wait.

Sable especially won me over in Felicity Heaton's second installment of her Eternal Mates series. I have a love for strong female leads, female protagonists who fight and don't simply roll over at the sight of a hot male. Sable was such a character, who really pushed her relationship with King Thorne, and who remained true to her warrior character.

Thorne, of course, was a smoking demon-hot! He was a pleasure to imagine, and the author managed successfully to capture his pov with ease and an impressive level of emotive appeal. Heaton managed, once again to evoke, a strong reaction from me. I felt the characters' passion and angst, felt their turmoil and desires. Heaton never ceases to surprise me with her control of the written word.

I thoroughly enjoyed book one, yet Claimed by a Demon King, I found Heaton found her stride and a new voice. Like her other series, one which we get a glimpse of in this book -which I admittedly became crazy, excited by - Heaton's confidence in her new characters seems to grow as the series progresses. I am truly looking forward to the next installment, and can't wait to discover which of her amazing characters she follows.

I went into this book with a negative attitude ( I know bad Megan!) But I was not a huge fan of Sable in the last book but I am girl crushing on her for reals now. Also Thorn was freaking adorable. I love it when the hero doesn't know certain things.. like him trying to make human food for Sable when she was hung over. He had my heart right then and he will have it forever. Also how sweet he was. He jumped to the mortal world to get her coffee! OHHHH and when some skanky human throws herself at him he completely shuts it down. Whoo!!! Yay Thorn!

The whole book was action, adorable demon Thorn and Sable just being a badass. I loved this book!!

Claimed By A Demon King is FABULOUS! You really should read book one, Kissed By A Dark Prince first. The Eternal Mates series is truly a paranormal smorgasbord!! I could not decide which character I loved most. This book is pure excitement through every page. Come fall in love with these demons, elves, shifters and of course grumpy vampires.
Felicity is one of my favorite authors and after you read this book you will understand why!

My Initial Reaction…
I loved every second of Claimed by a Demon King. The characters were funny and lovable, the plot and action were intense, and the love story worked so well! I can’t wait for more from this series!

The Characters…
As much as I enjoyed Olivia and Loren in Kissed by a Dark Prince, Sable and Thorne blew them out of the water for me. We met Sable and Thorne in Kissed by a Dark Prince and they already shone then, when the limelight wasn’t on them, so I probably should have seen this coming.

Sable is so tough – she’s a hunter for Archangel, a human company that hunts demons that disobey Archangel’s rules, and as Claimed by a Demon King begins, she’s taking on her toughest assignment ever: leading a group of elite human hunters into a demon realm to fight alongside Demons, Elves, Werewolves, and Vampires. She’s not just physically though – she’s also emotionally tough. She’s been through a lot in her life and she’s overcome it marvelously. And, as Claimed by a Demon Kingprogresses, her past starts to rear it’s head – and raise a lot of questions. Questions Sable would rather not face and answers she doesn’t know what to do with. She handles it with such strength and determination. And yet, somehow, she’s so marvelously vulnerable. She’s scared to open up – even to her best friend, Olivia – and to trust in anyone besides herself.

But Thorne, the Demon king, is determined to make Sable trust him. I loved Thorne more than all the characters. He was, for me, like a mix of the Hulk and Shrek – because I picture this big, hulking demon and yet he’s so lovable. To be clear, despite my comparisons, he’s not green. From what I pictured, he mostly looks human, but he has these big horns that grow and curl when he’s angry or aroused. And he has claws and wings that can pop out of his back or retract. So maybe mostly human is an exaggeration. Anyway, Felicity knocked it out of the park with Thorne. He melted my heart so many times over. He knows that Sable isn’t going to be easily won and certainly not in his demon way of force – so he sets out to woo her. And he tries so hard, it’s just so adorable. And he gets that it’s the little things, sometimes. Like coffee in a demon realm where there’s nothing familiar to eat or drink. Oh and did I mention that he has been waiting to find his mate so he’s a virgin? When is the man ever the virgin? Right!?! It was a nice twist. And he lost his parents at a young – for a demon… so like 700 years old I think – age, but still visits there statues regularly to talk to them. He clearly loved them. *Sigh* I fell in love with him and was eager for Sable to love him, too.

The Story…
The story was, in my opinion, also much stronger than in Kissed by a Dark Prince. Thorne has called on all these races – Elves, Weres, Vampires, and even Humans – to help him save his kingdom. These races don’t easily mix, so there’s tension there from the start. The preparations for battle as well as the actual moments of fighting were the perfect balance for the love story that was always at work.

Sable is Thorne’s eternal mate – and as a Demon, he can ONLY have children with his fated, eternal mate. So in a way, this is soul mates and love at first sight. But Felicity does such a good job of making the characters work for that love, that you easily forget that there was any form of insta-love involved. Thorne has to woo Sable, who is determined to fight her feelings for him. And then there’s Bleu – who has been interested in Sable since Kissed by a Dark Prince. There’s the question of whether or not Sable might also be his eternal mate – because that could happen – or does he just want her? Again, even though it’s essentially a love triangle, Felicity wrote it so well, I didn’t hate it. I loved it and I wasn’t left with that icky feeling that love triangles so often leave me with.

Although lots of elements from Kissed by a Dark Prince reappear in Claimed by a Demon King, the book could definitely be read as a stand alone. Personally, I recommend reading both to fully appreciate some of the plot elements and characters, but it would definitely work.

Concluding Sentiments…
A fantastic Paranormal Romance with lovable characters and steamy sex scenes, Claimed by a Demon King was a definite win. But what made it even better, was the incredible plot twists and action sequences to make it more than just a romance. And it ended perfectly – I’m happy with the resolution and yet enough is hanging that I cannot wait to read the next book in the Eternal Mates series!
