You may or may not know that May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. But while it seems timely to discuss with summer just around the corner (or sooner yet, a sun-filled Memorial Day Weekend), knowing what you need to do to prevent the disease—the most common form of cancer in the United States— is invaluable year round. We asked Dr. Angela Lamb, a dermatologist affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine and Mount Sinai hospital, to detail all the latest statistics and warning signs. Many cancers are not preventable, but many forms of skin cancer are, so there's no excuse not to take your health into your own hands—and we made it easy for you, below.
