The singer kicked off the U.K. leg of her 1989 world tour tonight in Glasgow, and upon taking the stage, Swift told the enormous crowd at the SSE Hydro, "I happen to love Scottish people," which may not seem like much of a big deal initially, except you're forgetting one important detail.
Taylor is dating Calvin Harris. Calvin Harris is Scottish. Now, you understand. So cute.
Swift swung a golf iron on stage during Blank Space and told fans after the song, "This is my first time playing in Glasgow and you sold this place out in seconds. I happen to love Scottish people, personally."
She continued, "It's sold out, it's Tuesday night, you're here with me and I'm so happy about it. Thanks for coming. You've got signs, you've got costumes—you went all out."
Guess it's safe to say Scottish people love you, too, Tay. But we kinda already knew that.
Swift also revealed that she's part Scottish, too!
The celeb told the 12,000 people in the audience that her Dad emailed her something special ahead of her show tonight. "In the subject line it said 'Tell Scotland this' and in the email he said our whole family is from Scotland and you have to tell them that," she said.
"So I am one of you, and I'm proud because this crowd is amazing."
The concert comes on the heels of a very big day for Taylor. The "Bad Blood" singer wrote an open letter to Apple Music Sunday criticizing the company for not paying royalties as part of its streaming service, and soon after, the company responded.
Apple's senior vice president of internet services and software Eddy Cue announced that the company will pay artists, even during the 90-day free trial period. "We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple," Cue tweeted. Swift tweeted about the news, writing, "I am elated and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us."
Harris also gave his lady a shout-out on Twitter, writing, "I just played a gig inside a giant owl and my girl just changed the entire music industry what a day."
Oh, these two.
