2018-19 World Language Support Network and PLC - Albany Region

The Albany Support Network for World Language teachers is in our fourth year collaborating to improve teaching and learning. New and returning members are welcome!

Throughout the year, participants will come together monthly to discuss and deepen teaching practices and will then go back to the classroom to implement new teaching practices. Each session will include time to discuss and reflect upon implementation.

Topics for the 2018-19 school year include:
- October: Assessment of Learning & Evaluation of/with Rubrics
- November: Using Authentic Materials in the World Language Classroom
- December and January: Differentiation in the World Language Classroom
- February and March: ACTFL's Three Modes of Communication
- April: Technology
- May: Reflection on our Practice

In addition to these topics above, each month 2-3 participants will share strategies/best practices for NYS Topics in a "swap shop"�½ style presentation.

Each session will consist of 2 hours in person, as well as 30 minutes of reflection on implementation and/or discussion of monthly readings online. The online portion will be completed asynchronously in the Schoology platform.

Location: Sand Creek MS Library, South Colonie CSD
Dates: Tues 10/9, 11/13, 12/11, 1/8, 2/12, 3/12, 4/16, 5/14
Times: Monthly In-Person 4:15-6:15 pm, 30 minutes per month asynchronous online
Facilitator: Tiffany Phelps
Fee: None. Instruction underwritten by GCRTC. However, registration is required.
