Sorry I missed you all Thursday night at Roundtable! I have been working (yes, an actual job, freelance at the moment, hopefully full-time soon) and they needed me to update their web site with information on a new partnership in time for the Chinese work day. Unfortunately, it took them quite a bit of time to get the information "correct" - which meant a late night for me at work! But from all reports you did well without me.
I have "collected" some new PDF documents for anyone who is interested in have some additional resources. Some of these are quite large, so be forewarned!
To Donna Hart-Konkal for being "front and center" with the re-registration packets at Roundtable.
To Marv for posting his unit contacts in UVTS.
Little things do mean a lot -- and I am glad to see our Commissioners stepping up and helping our units!
As I have mentioned before, along with unit contacts being recorded in UVTS, one of the other criteria, is that Unit Commissioners have a written "unit service plan" for their units in 2011.
I've mentioned some of the items that should be included in the Unit Service Plan, but this week, I have found a great template for anyone who would like one.
This template is very complete, and includes items we have not even mentioned in previous discussions. This template is actually from another Council, but I have made some modifications to let it be used by anyone. Feel free to download and use it on your units.
Information on the Fall Camporee (November 19-21) was passed out at the last Roundtable meeting. Troop 507 has done a great job of planning and putting together a great program, you will want to be there.>
The Troops will be divided up into teams of 6-8 scouts of combined ages and rank. These "virtual patrols" will compete in a contest similar to the Amazing Race.
Webelos I and IIs are invited to participate in the events on Saturday in an effort to give them a "taste" of Scouting.
For more information, download the Camporee packet.

The commissioner is a teacher. As a commissioner, they will have a wonderful opportunity to participate in the growth of unit leaders by sharing knowledge with them. They teach not just in an academic environment, but where it counts most—as an immediate response to a need to know. That is the best adult learning situation since the lesson is instantly reinforced by practical application of the new knowledge.
