TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - Pekanbaru State Court has sentenced three suspects of Orangutan illegal trade in Riau. Awaludin and Ali Ahmad were sentenced 2.5 years in prison, while Khairi Roza was sentenced 2 years in prison.
The three convicts will also have to pay Rp80 million of fine or three months in prison.
The sentence is relatively lighter than that of the prosecutor’s order. Prosecutor has ordered the three suspects to serve three years in prison.
The three were found guilty of selling three Orangutan babies in Pekanbaru. The three bought Orang Utan babies for Rp5 million, and were to sell it for Rp25 million each.
