Motherhood sure looks good on Rachel Bilson!
Though the actress welcomed her firstborn daughter, Briar Rose Christensen, on Oct. 29, 2014, she did not speak about her mini-me in interviews until Wednesday night. It was the right time and place, of course, as Bilson and fellow actress Kristen Bell were named No Kid Hungry's newest No Kid Hungry Champions.
Speaking about her daughter at the podium, Bilson told the star-studded audience, "I'm a new mom...ish. She's almost 1, which is crazy. But you kind of feel like a mom to all kids at this point. Finding out that so many kids in our country are hungry is just not OK. So, getting involved was very important to us."
Earlier, on the red carpet, Bilson explained why she got involved with Share Our Strength's Annual event. "I am a mother in real life," she said. "You kind of feel like you take on mothering all children, so it's so important to know that you're children are fed. It's a little thing that can go over your head, but it's so important. Kids who are going to school hungry, they're not absorbing information as well, and their education isn't benefitting as much as it could...They're trying to help kids, and having these programs where they eat, they can achieve their goals even better because they're well fed and because they can focus."
The tone of the night wasn't totally serious, though.
After posing for pictures at The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, the former star of FOX's The O.C. and The CW's Hart of Dixie admitted to Us Weekly, "I needed to wear a dress that I could wear a nursing bra with—all [of my] clothes need to be able to [accommodate] a nursing bra. Plus, [I love] the colors. I was so happy to wear Jonathan Saunders. I've never worn him before, so I'm excited to be wearing it!"
Bilson completed her look with Paul Andrew heels and Jennifer Fisher jewels.
As for her daughter with fiancé Hayden Christensen, Bilson gushed, "She's doing good. She's a smart little girl—very active." Just last month, when Hayden was promoting the film 90 Minutes in Heaven, he couldn't help but gush about Briar Rose. "I have this little angel in my life now and Rachel and I are so thrilled," he told E! News, adding, "We don't sleep as much as we used to, but it's all so worth it."
