MLB
Anibal Sanchez struggled again yesterday afternoon, and the Detroit Tigers lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 8-5. Sanchez gave up six runs – three unearned – on eight hits over six innings. The big blows were home runs by Odubel Herrera and Peter Bourjos. Sanchez did not win a game in May, and his ERA has ballooned to 6.04. Cameron Maybin had two hits and scored twice for Detroit.

After winning seven of nine games on their home stand, the Tigers take today off, and begin a series at Oakland tomorrow night. Michael Fulmer will start against Sean Manaea. Hear the first pitch at 10:05 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Tigers played without manager Brad Ausmus yesterday. He’s taking some family leave, following the death of his mother. Ausmus was already scheduled to miss tomorrow night’s game so he could attend his daughter’s high school graduation. He’s expected to rejoin the club on Saturday.
