Column explanations
22
Contests/Experiments: as with our yeast and hops experiments, anyone who wants to brew can brew according to the rules of each contest, and we'll pick our favorite(s). There will usually be a small prize, and we’ll usually ask for for a buck or two from each meeting attendee to cover the prize.
23
Commercial Calibration: one or two people will pick two commercial beers of a certain style and lead a group tasting, where we can build our style knowledge and develop a better shared beer vocabulary. Meeting attendees will pitch in to cover beer cost. Please buy these beers from Brouwerij Lane.
24
Home Brew Focus Group: one or two Brewsers will bring homebrew for a focused group tasting and comments. When it makes sense to do so, this can be combined with commercial calibration.
25
Speaker: a brewing, ingredient, or process expert will speak, or a Brewser can prepare to discuss a topic.
26
Other Tasting: any other tastings, such as dry-hopped light lagers, off flavor kits, etc.
