Laura A. Forbes is a Senior Assistant District Attorney with the Office of the Westchester County District Attorney.  She is currently assigned to the High Technology Crimes Bureau of the Investigations Divisions, in which she investigates and prosecutes computer and Internet-based offenses, including online sexual predators, Internet crimes against children, computer hacking and electronic eavesdropping.  She was previously assigned to the Economic Crimes Bureau, in which she investigated and prosecuted cases including corporate embezzlement, insurance fraud, financial abuse of the elderly, and larceny by fiduciaries.

           

ADA Forbes also lectures extensively to students, teachers, parents and senior citizens about Internet safety and other computer related issues, as well as identity theft, and counterfeit driver’s licenses/underage drinking.  She has attended training seminars across the country regarding the prosecution of online crimes against children, as sponsored by the New York Prosecutors Training Institute (NYPTI) and American Prosecutors Research Institute (APRI), and has received additional training in the areas of financial investigations and computer forensics.  ADA Forbes is also a member of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association.

         

  In 2000, ADA Forbes received a J.D. from Pace University School of Law, in White Plains, New York, where she was also an editor for the Pace Law Review, and published her own Comment entitled, “A More Convenient Crime: Why States Must Regulate Internet-Related Criminal Activity Under the Dormant Commerce Clause” (20 Pace L. Rev. 189 (Fall 1999)). She received a B.S. in Business Management from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York in 1997.

In 2010, she co-authored a chapter for the Internet Fraud Casebook: The World Wide Web of Deceit entitled “Wire Transfers from Nowhere”.
