FORT COLLINS — A man accused of fleeing police and killing a woman in a November 2013 ATV accident will stand trial this coming February.

Travis Ackerman, 29, appeared before a judge Friday morning more than a year and a half after the incident occurred.

Initially his trial was scheduled for Jan 6, 2015 — this court date was later vacated, according to Jodi Lacey, District Attorney’s Office public information officer. A reason for the vacated date was not given.

Ackerman, vice president and senior broker for Cassidy Turley commercial real estate, was involved in a ATV accident that seriously injured him and left Lindsay Davis, 26, dead. Both lived in Fort Collins.

Reports allege Ackerman drove away from a police officer and crashed into a roundabout near his Fort Collins home, ejecting him and Davis from the ATV on Nov. 17, 2013.

Neither Davis or Ackerman were wearing a helmet.

He was arrested a month and a half later — a delay due to what police cited as the holidays and a lengthy process for processing a toxicology test; he was released on a $5,00 cash bond the next day.

Ackerman faces charges of Class 3 felony vehicular homicide, Class 4 felony vehicular homicide and reckless driving, Class 3 felony eluding police, DUI and reckless driving.

Ackerman is innocent until proven guilty.

His attorney said Friday that four defense experts will be called to the witness stand, thus the trial will need to span seven days instead of six days.

Ackerman will begin his trial on Feb 22 at 9 a.m. in the Larimer County Justice Center.
