The comments are very anti-cyclist. Apparently it's an invasion of privacy.

I guess it's also an invasion of privacy when a distracted person drives their car through the wall of your house.

There is no right to privacy in a car, you're driving a box covered in glass in a public space.
I overtook some people going uphill once.

Bloody hell. Two MM's this morning. But had the Fly6 on this time....but not yet had a chance to review nor work out how to post here without Tapatalk. Both were in company branded cars?!?

Called one of the Businesses today (badly missed time MGIF at a roundabout) and set the Business Owner the challenge of finding out which one of his 15 vehicles was involved. Only gave him the time and location but have not yet him know I have footage.

Also requested he gets the driver (if one owns up) to call me from his office to explain his 'version' of events. I will then reveal I have the footage and what the say will determine what i do with it...

That decision totally defies belief. "Negligent driving" surely doesn't cover a targeted attack? What do you have to do with your car for it to be considered assault?

Welcome to cycling mate, egged so disappointing .
Last night I was encouraging a mate who is a newbie , 6mths into riding with new clip ins. We were at the end of his first 80k ride. He was able to complete a climb. That he stopped on previously. Feeling happy with his achievements some moron hit him hard with eggs 100m metres from his home. This caused him to wobble hit gutter fairly hard.He was laying still when I got to him shocked I guess. He lost a bit of bark and injured his armed. So sad because this guy normally spends all his time helping the less fortunate . It was pretty oblivious that this moron had been tracking us. He waited until we were in an isolated side street and switched off his lights, quietly drove up to us cowards. I believe in karma and I hope it comes to them very soon. This could of been a lot worse. I wish they got me instead, as I am use to it ,ice coffee, broken bricks, rubbish.

This is not a comment on the legal decision.
Cornering people to confront them is not likely to end well. Parking the old lady in indicates a willingness to pursue accusations very aggressively and denied her the ability to disengage from the conflict. If you do that, you are going to escalate the conflict to a ridiculous level. As they have no escape, their only option is to defend themselves and they will do so unreasonably. People are most unlikely to be conciliatory in this situation. It means the younger woman has to accept the responsibility to disengage as she has denied the older lady that option, she couldn't even run away. The older lady is at a physical disadvantage and her priority is her physical safety. It is understandable and entirely predictable that she would panic, it has nothing to do with her being sweat, innocent or justified, she was just being a frail human. Seen similar situations many times and one that ended in knifing death. It is just never a good idea to trap people like that. The old lady made a mistake parking there and the younger one made another in entitlement. Look at the result.
Is entitlement the best way to go really?

A very reasoned and insightful post there Ken, not at all what I expect from the Internets these days. Please don't let it happen again.

Ken
An apologist for an old lady parking illegally (talk about entitlement) and then getting "hysterical" when she's called out.

My turn today. Which I'm fortunate enough for it to be a rarity... Though it also deserves to go in the dumb cyclist thread as I failed to take my own advice. (So flame away if you wish I deserve it!)

I got closed shaved by a 2 tonne sprinter van, probably less than 30cm from my bars. I slapped the rear side panel as it went by, it got her attention and she then brake checked me... She started screaming at me that I could have caused her to crash and how dangerous it was to behave like that on that "dangerous" road. I don't think at any stage it occurred to her that it was her behaviour that was the danger. She then said she was going to the cops and proceeded to take a photograph of the dangerous menace that almost caused her to crash. I welcomed here invitation for the cops but she retreated back to her van....

This all occured in the Eastern suburbs, a bit away from the better behaved motorists in my local area. A twisting road for which I take the lane for most of it. At the time the road opened up to a straight so I moved across politely to let the car behind me pass, which it didn't as it was turning left. However the car behind then decided that it would accelerate and pass right at the point where there was a traffic island.

So yeah.... Moron motorist but I should have been taking my own strongly worded advice of TAKING the LANE.

So one time I decide to be a little courteous and move left of the shoulder line after exiting a roundabout I get buzzed by a ... wait for it... white hilux ute who was straightly lining the exit. Was pretty riled, and not the worse I've seen, but had good footage from front and rear cameras, so grabbed some stills and submitted a hoon line report. This on Wednesday.

Today there is a knock at the door and there are two police officers following up my report. From the local station where the boss is a cyclist, as are they apparently. Took notes, bike measurements and viewed the video footage I have preserved. Audible gasp when the front camera was viewed (this has the most impact because the vehicle appears suddenly and very scarily). These guys are totally prepared to follow up and issue infringement (as at time of writing) - will present to the police station on Monday with footage and prepared statement.

I will update this when there is an outcome, and possibly post either footage or stills.

Welcome to the burbs... :P
I can say that because I had a great time introducing the new bike to the inner north this arvo. Man you got some nice people on the streets without facilities.
