'Blue Ivy pushed us to do it': Tina Knowles says granddaughter's seal of approval convinced her to marry again

Beyonce's mom Tina Knowles credits her three-year-old granddaughter Blue Ivy with convincing her to marry for a second time.

Tina, 61, who tied the knot with actor Richard Lawson, 68, on April 12, tells People magazine that the little girl asked them when they were going to get married during a vacation with Beyonce and Jay Z last September.

'Richard said, 'Oh, Blue, soon. Do you approve?' And she said yes. That's the first time we talked seriously about getting married.' Tina told the publication.

Tina had been dating Richard for about 18 months before their all-white wedding on a yacht earlier this month in Newport Beach, California. 

The couple had known each other for more than 30 years, however.

Guests at the wedding included Tina's daughters Beyonce and Solange with their husbands Jay Z and Alan Ferguson as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

Also there were Richard's two children and actor Samuel L. Jackson.

Tina was divorced from Matthew Knowles in 2011 and tells People: 'There was a time when I doubted if I would find love again.'

'But I was determined to be happy, and God sent somebody into my life,' she said. 'You can find love at any age. You just have to go for it.'

As for her wedding day? 'It couldn't have been more perfect,' Tina said. 

Tina explained that the all-white wedding has become a family tradition.

'Beyonce started it, and then Kelly and Solange had all-white weddings,' she said. 'It's just elegant, and white represents the purity of love.'

She has taken her new husband's last name and says she hopes her romance inspires others.
