Carmen Chile
Dear Friends,

This is a very important day for us because 19 years ago, Carmenere was rediscovered in the Viña Carmen vineyards.

Carmenere was the lost variety of France and was believed extinct worldwide after the phylloxera attack in the mid-19th century until Jean Michel Boursiquot rediscovered it in Chile in 1994. This event marked a before and after in the world wine industry. Today, Carmenere has become the emblematic variety of Premium Chilean wines.

Today, on the anniversary of its rediscovery, I would like to share with you the different awards our Carmenere wines have earned in 2013:

Winemakers Reserve Carmenere Blend 2009
Concours Mondial de Bruxelles - Great Gold Medal
International Wine Challenge - Silver Medal
Mundus Vini - Silver Medal
Descorchados - 91 Points

Gran Reserva Carmenere 2011
Descorchados - 92 Points
Mundus Vini - Gold Medal-Best Chilean Red Wine
Korea Wine Challenge - Gold Medal
International Wine Challenge - Bronze Medal

I would also like to take this opportunity to tell you about a project I have been working on—a limited edition of a great Maipo Valley Carmenere, the “Special 20th Anniversary Edition” that we will use to commemorate this important milestone.

Kind Regards,
