Cole Hamels named NL Co-Player of The Week after throwing no-hitter

Phillies starting pitcher Cole Hamels has been named National League Co-Player of The Week along with Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies, after hurling the first no-hitter against the Chicago Cubs since 1965.

Hamels' no-hitter was the first of the 2008 World Series MVP's career and the third no-hit effort of the 2015 season across Major League Baseball. En-route to Saturday's historic performance, Hamels struck out a season-high 13 batters.

Last season Hamels was part of a team no-hitter when he combined with members of the Phillies' bullpen Jake Diekman, Ken Giles and Jonathan Papelbon, to no-hit the Atlanta Braves on September 1, 2014.

Hamels joins exclusive company as the last pitcher to no-hit the Cubs was Sandy Koufax.
