Well, after being a member at another gym in town, I opted out of that one and dropped in again here. Although it's a bit pricier than I am used to paying ($175/month if you opt for the membership over the month to month), it's worth it. Worth. Every. Penny. I am officially a member at CrossFit Max Effort.
I haven't had the chance to attend any evening classes, due to my schedule, but the morning and noon crew are stealing my heart, helping me get through an injury, and hopefully growing my booty. Justin is specific and motivating. Nick is simply hilarious and I really enjoyed my skill sessions with him. Zach, the owner, is kind, funny, and really encouraging.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the facility is top notch, they take care of you by scaling and modifying appropriately, and the members are way more welcoming than I have experienced at other boxes in Las Vegas. I have yet to attend one of their gym parties, so I'm really looking forward to getting to know other members.
I may be nursing a back issue, but I am in some very capable hands.
Like I said.

This place comes highly recommended for drop ins, so I figured it might be a great fit for when I move to town. The facility is tucked away in an industrial area and is much bigger than it looks from the outside. I made it to the 7am class which was small for the day, according to Coach Rudy.
I love feeling welcomed, so it was nice to hear the coach instruct the members to introduce themselves to the new faces. We all shook hands and then got through class together. You warm up together, which I LOVE! I mean, have you seen the meme that says, "When you tell the class to do their own warm up..." If not, google it.
Rudy made sure to explain scaling options for the strength component (5 sets of 10 chin ups unbroken) and paired me up with a trio for the workout. 6 rounds for time. 200m run, 200m farmer carry while your partner holds a high plank). Switch every round. I was one of two drop ins that morning, and everyone in the class was super friendly. It's definitely a top contender for my new gym. - Steve S.Flagstaff, AZ136013291Jun 15, 2018

I'm so glad I found this place! A couple friends from my home box in SD recommended this place for "drop in". They've got good deals for visitors.
The gym is HUGE and completely fitted not to mention super clean. The noon WOD was about 15 persons, and the coaches (Nik & Coop) were fun and energetic. The music was on point. I'll surely return on my next visit to LV.
Thanks again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ernesto B.Ventura, CA17Jan 10, 2018
Went here while I was on vacation in Las Vegas. I love going to the 1st class that any box offers. Nick is a an awesome athlete but an even better coach. I've been doing CF off and on for a few years and Nick diagnosed an issue I'd been having on my front squats for some time. He offered his time and reinforcement about the importance of mobility and effort.
If you're ever in Vegas and want to get your a$$ kicked besides at the just blackjack table? Do yourself and favor and get in here bright and early.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Daniel C.Port Jefferson Station, NY12065177Jan 30, 2017
Very friendly place!
The receptionist showed me around, which was very much appreciated. He probably showed hundreds of drop-in visitors around throughout his time there, but he treated me with respect and friendliness.
The coach I had for my visit there was helpful and would provide pointers for me, where applicable. I understood that his time on any one person was limited, but I did appreciate the fact that he went and corrected my form when needed.
Great open space (think Costco warehouse big) with all the crossfit toys. The facility has everything except towels for the showers, so be sure to bring your own. There's a smoothie bar too! The only gripe I have is probably that there should be better signs out in the front for first time visitors such as myself. Other than that, now I know where it is!
There's a $15 subsequent drop-in fee for the duration of the week after your first visit, as of January 2017. I didn't take advantage of it, but will do so the next time I visit the area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shereen A.San Francisco, CA1792583906Aug 7, 2016
I freaking LOVED dropping in here.
Friend and I were in Vegas for four days and decided to drop in at Max Effort after our coaches in San Francisco recommended it. Signing up online was pretty easy. We decided to pay for the drop in in person so we could get the combo deal of class and shirt for a set price.
This space is enormous! It's minimal but they have everything, and the best of it. Coaches were great, instruction was hands on, and extremely professional.
Even though the class was much larger than what we're used to (I think there were about 40 people in class), having multiple coaches on the floor really helped. They even took the time to help with modifications and form. The WOD was pretty challenging, too. Super fun!
So welcoming and knowledgable. I can't wait to come back!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Ryan T.South Miami, FL4203Sep 30, 2017
Dropped in on a saturday morning. This place is awesome. About 25 people in the class. Plenty of room. Coach did a great job at staying engaged with a pretty large crows during entire workout. Gave me some awesome cues. Would definitely visit anytime I'm in Vegas.
This place is huge. "Crossfit Disneyland"Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Neel K.Beloit, WI74361416Sep 2, 2016
I recently visited this location as a newbie to CrossFit (6mo) and was blown away. This gym is HUGE. I was honestly intimidated given the location and the number of people that attend this box that I would not be able to keep up......I was totally wrong.
The coach, Justin was friendly and engaged with everyone in the group. I attended a 6am class which was made up of all regulars except for me. We worked in partners and I was immediately asked by one of the regulars to partner up which was so welcoming. The cool thing about this box is that they warm up/stretch together. Justin was so attentive to our movements, offering suggestions and tips on how to move better.
I love CrossFit, and Max Effort is a box that reinforces everything that CrossFit stands for. Even as a visitor I felt the immediate sense of community and comradery. The facility itself is beautiful with water fountains, cubbies for your stuff, and showers. I did a drop in which cost me $40 and included a t-shirt.
If you are in Vegas and looking to squeeze a WOD in, CrossFit Max Effort is the absolute best place to go.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Update: My back pain is GONE. Thanks CFME!
Here's my review from 6/16/2012:
FIRST A LITTLE BACKGROUND: I'm 51 years old, an Air Force medic (civil service), a physician assistant, and an Air Force veteran with 27 years of service. I had L5-S1 microdiscectomy in 2007, which took away 95% of my intensely painful sciatica, but intensified a long history of low back pain. I also had knee surgery--medial meniscectomy in 2010, which, again, corrected 95% of my knee problem, leaving me with occasionally sensation of pain and weakness.
About 4 months after my back surgery, I began to take serious the idea of going to the gym. Since that time, I've logged countless visits to Las Vegas Athletic Club focusing on cardio (stair stepper, treadmill walking, etc--avoided running), and weight training. I have followed the Body for Life program (a pyramid weightlifting strategy), as well as several other weightlifting strategies (Back and Bi's, Chest and tri's, and all of that stuff) with the purpose of gaining strength, not necessarily body building. I noticed improvement in my back pain, and noticed I felt stronger.
CROSSFIT: I was introduced to Crossfit ~2007 and accessed the website (http://www.crossfit.com). From the videos there, I incorporated (loosely) the ideas and exercises into my routine. I learned quite a bit. One time, I briefly looked into the cost of attending a Crossfit gym. Compared to my local gym membership ($22/month), it was considerably more expensive, and so I quickly dismissed it.
CROSSFIT MAX EFFORT (LAS VEGAS): 3 months ago, my son decided to join CFME. At this point, I was very bored in my exercise routine, was still having episodes of knee and back pain with occasional twinges of discomfort going down my legs.
Joining Crossfit Max Effort was the BEST thing I've done for my life. My back is significantly improved, and my knee is getting stronger.
THE OWNERS & the coaches are AWESOME. They are professional, friendly, very knowledgeable, and are constantly looking out for you. They are detailed in their instruction. You have no doubt on how to do things the right way, and they correct you when your technique is off. Although the classes are in a group setting, the personal attention they give you makes you feel like you're the only person in the room. That they care is quite evident. They are passionate about what they do. And they are fun to be around.
THE MEMBERS, who are of various ages, are positive, motivating, and encouraging. Everyone is working at their own physical capabilities, pushing their own boundaries, and working hard---TOGETHER. Attending a Crossfit class, working together to accomplish the same workout, pushing ourselves together, is INCREDIBLY MOTIVATING, far beyond the hum-drum boring conventional gym routine. There's MAGIC doing this in a group, lead by a knowledgeable coach.
VARIETY: Every day, the workout of the day is different. The variety and potential for variety keeps it fresh and works on all aspects of fitness. I look forward to checking the website the night before to see what we will be doing.
A TYPICAL CLASS involves:
1. The call for the class ("5 o'clock Crossfit!"), and we all gather around the coach who writes our names on the white board.
2. A brief introduction into what we will be doing that hour.
3. A warm-up that's directed toward the WOD (workout of the day) we will be doing. The warm-up involves both warming up as well as specific stretches geared toward the WOD.
4. INSTRUCTION, detailed, on the specific skills to be done during the WOD. Then practicing the movements as a class. Example: how to properly perform a push press (for more, check the Exercises and Demos on the left at this website: http://www.crossfit.com/. Although you will find just about all you need there, I can tell you that it's nothing like being there, listening, practicing the moves, and having a coach fine tune your technique. They see things you wouldn't notice yourself!!
NOTE: up to this point, through the warm-up and instruction, you are already sweating. I've heard several times, "The warm-up is the workout" or something of that nature. By this time, you've been through the work you might do at an average gym. Your shirt is partially drenched.
5. THE WOD: this is what we're all there for. It's the mission. And we all accomplish it together. Often, it is highly intense, and you are with a group, pushing yourselves to get it done. Again, motivation is maximal and incredible. You accomplish things you couldn't do on your own. And just when you say you can't do anymore, you're spent, and your attention is focused on all that you're doing, you hear an encouraging voice in a coach or fellow member that motivates you to give a little more.
6. Class directed or on your own, specific stretching targeting mobility and flexibility after the workout. This is a time to cool down, stretch, and recover.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sasha M.Hillsborough, CA16011653Jun 14, 2016
Every time I travel, I make it a point to visit local box. This was my second time visiting Max Effort as an out of stater. What an experience. The athletes at this box are legit - WODs are very challenging and the group that attends is competitive. I always get an awesome reception and welcome and a fantastic workout in.
Highly recommend you check out this box.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
