#MyFitJourney: Week 5 And The Countdown Is On!

I've just finished week five out of six and the nerves are kicking in.

So week five of my Reformer Pilates challenge is over (You can catch up on all the previous weeks here, FYI) and I’m now in my final week. I had thought that the more classes I completed, the easier things would get, but it was actually kind of the opposite. Yes I got better with each class, but then my trainer Annie made the next session even more difficult, which was good. You don’t want things to get easy, you want to challenge your body because otherwise it won’t change.

My healthy eating faltered over the weekend which was a pity. At the same time, I did cancel a gluttonous weekend away last minute. So I think that by forfeiting that, I counteracted the unhealthy choices I may have made on Saturday and Sunday.

I’ll be uploading my before and after photos so you’ll be able to judge for yourself and see what the differences are.

We did a lot of work on my arms in week five and as you can see in the photo above, there’s definitely definition (please excuse my facial expression). Next week I’ll be uploading my before and after photos so you’ll be able to judge for yourself and see what the differences are. I’m a bit nervous. I just hope I’ve made enough progress! This week we’ll be doing a lot of work on my tummy and hopefully some leg and arm work too.

Looking forward, I’m going to be pretty sad when my time with Annie is over and all in all, the experience has been amazing. I’ve never had such a structured workout routine in my life and I haven’t gone to the gym once since starting, I haven’t felt like I’ve needed to. The atmosphere in Platinum Pilates is warm and welcoming and there’s no competitiveness, which you might expect in an environment that is largely made up of women.

It’s crunch time now and I’m planning on working harder this week than I have over the last five.

We have one final push this week to work Gen the hardest we have yet.

Annie Says

After a rough patch last week, Gen was back in business this week. Her attitude was fantastic and she was determined to work as hard as she could. Our focus was her arms and her core strength, and man, did we blitz them! We were progressing to advanced versions of exercises where the skill, intensity and resistance are all increased. Note to self, don’t ever mess with Gen, she’s a machine once she gets going!

I can’t believe we are coming to the end of the challenge and the big reveal is only a week away. We have one final push this week to work Gen the hardest we have yet. With the end in sight we have to stay focused, it’s very easy to let it slip at this stage. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to see the final results!

Psst! Wanna follow in Genevieve’s footsteps? We’ve got 50 pilates classes with Platinum Pilates up for grabs here
