There is much type of skirts and some of them are inspired by the attire worn in east too
Dressing up is considered to be feminine activity which is in correct. As everybody wants to look good irrespective of the gender and thus all of us take efforts to look good. This is the reason that attires have been given predominance and lots of thought has been invested in it through the history of the mankind. Attire is not just a piece of cloth set in various styles and patterns. The attire is a representation of the regional culture, history, climate, and, also the choice and characteristic of the person adorning the attire. Thus we can easily state that attire is subtle speaker about not only the person wearing it but also the region the person belongs too. Different attires represent different eras and the styles prevalent in that era. Among the various kinds of attires in the world, dresses especially western dresses for women are commonly accepted attire. With the inception of globalization the concept of dresses is no more related to west only, as more and more women even in the rest of the world has accepted it as an attire. Today one can easily shop western dresses online in complete convenience.
Skirt is one of the attire that came to the prominence in India with colonial rule and was entire seen as western apparel. However, this opinion changed with the introduction of globalization in India, whereby skirts are commonly accepted as women’s attire. Nevertheless skirts have a very long history and have been worn by both men and women all over the world including some part of the Asia too. Here is the list:
Kilt: These are woolen skirts that are worn by men in Scotland and is the part of their national attire. However Scots are not the only one, eve the Irish and Scandinavians had traditionally worn kilt as their national attire but do not wear it any more.
Lungi: Lungi is similar to Sarong and is the inspiration behind the wrap around skirts. The Lungi usually made either cotton or silk and is wrapping around cloth. These are widely worn all around Asia. Kanga: This another form of Sarong, worn in around East Africa. This made of cotton with elaborate design on it. This form of skirt is worn by both male and female. Therefore although skirts are consider being part of western attire and commonly bought in the section of western dresses for women but some of the skirts are inspired by the skirt like things worn in east too.
