There are a lot of great diners in LA and this is definitely one of them. It's the classic 50s style diner with a huge menu, filled with all the classics that you would expect. They have a lot of different seating options available both counter and booth. Our server was really polite and also very attentive. It was really busy when we arrived for a 10:30 AM Saturday brunch but we only had to wait a few few minutes to be seated. They have a medium sized free parking lot attached to the side but it was full when we arrived so we had to do free street parking a block away near the church.
As always, I started with a cup of coffee and it's that true strong diner coffee that I love. For my meal today I chose the Chicken Fried Steak and it really hit the spot. Their gravy is not watery and it was a good sized portion. The pricing is also fair for all the items, so it really would be good for families or large groups.
Overall a really delicious diner in the South Bay. I'm not in this area often, but I certainly would stop in again next time I am down that way, and would recommend to anyone else that's in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jessica P.Los Banos, CA33013Mar 22, 2024
We were immediately welcomed when we entered. I ordered the Duke special and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak. My food was delicious. My husband enjoyed his meal. The service was phenomenal. They were great about filling our coffee and water. The restaurant was clean and beautiful inside. I loved the artwork. I would definitely revisit this restaurant when we come back.

One of the original Googie diners, with an awesome sign, and a wavy roof line. Chips serves classic diner food and is the epitome of a 'greasy spoon'. That's not a bad thing! It's a good thing, in this context. For me, the term is synonymous with tried-and-true comfort, and Chips did not disappoint.
I sat at the counter and ordered a solid breakfast with Eggs, Sausage, hash Browns and toast. It came with a bottomless coffee cup with countless refills. The service is friendly and kind, and the vibe is relaxing. It could be a Dup-Pars, or a Norms, or a Dennys, or an Ihop. But it's not. It is Chips, and its worth a visit.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0 - 309200509Dec 2, 2023

I LOVE THE VIBE OF THIS PLACE -- Old Fashioned. The customer service was real good too. When we walked in, we were greeted & told to sit wherever. The waiter answered the questions we had about the menu & then recommended a few things to us. We ended up getting the 2 things that he recommended -- The International Omelette & The Three Stooges. My fiance said the bacon was cooked perfectly unlike the bacon he had at Denny's. My daughter loved the Belgian waffle & ate the whole thing. My other daughter had the kids breakfast meal & she ate everything -- eggs, bacon, pancakes. I had the omelette & it was interesting how they put the regular square cheese on top of the finished omelette instead of putting shredded cheese on the inside. There was definitely a lot of meat in that omelette. However, I couldn't finish the hash browns because it did taste a little off for me, idk if it was because it was too oily. Also, when the other waitress gave our food, we were just sitting there waiting because there weren't enough forks so we had to ask for more when she came by but I like how she apologized. Another thing I liked is how we didn't have to wait for our check & how she dropped the check off to us when she saw we were almost finished & said "no rush. whenever you're ready." It made our time there go by smoothly because when having small children, you know how they get when they're done eating & just want to play around so you want to get out of there asap lol.

0. The restaurant has a parking lot but if you can't find any there is huge parking lot by Ralph
1. The restaurant has tables and a bar section.
2. The service was amazing. The lady who took care of us was alway checking on us and refilling our coffee. Very attentive
3. I got the steak and egg with homemade potatoes and pancakes for an extra dollar. Potatoes was delicious and everything else was tasty.
4. The person with me got machaca and it was also good. The beans were perfect during this visit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 9, 2023
Er breakfast in a 60s diner with friendly staff, tasty food n a never ending supply of black Joe, I think so! The omelette I had was yummy and they made choc chip pancakes for my daughter. Huge cakes! Sat at the breakfast bar and the staff took good care of us. Big menu, big servings, n a big heart in this diner. Booths, breakfast bar n outdoor patio available. Car park or street parking. Cheap but plentiful food. We will be back!

Thanks to Barbara for making our lunch experience a great one - May 15, 2023
Good breakfast and brunch. I had the omelet with sausage, cheese, and tomatoes, hash browns, and subbed the pancakes for the toast. Everything tasted great. The vanilla cappuccino was very yummy. The waitress was busy, she seemed to be the only one, but she was very nice and helpful and apologized for the wait. We didn't really mind, though. It's a solid spot for breakfast, and maybe if I ever visit again, I will try the lunch menu. It also seems to be delicious.
