Confident Indonesia considers rupiah change

Growing confidence in the Indonesian economy could prompt a redenomination of the rupiah currency, with the government expected to start consulting on the issue this year.

That could mean the last three digits being removed from the currency, so 1000 rupiah would become one rupiah.

The BBC's Karishma Vaswani in Jakarta explains the proposal but says that any changes would be a long way off.
