The Palace Saloon is truly a Soo establishment, opening for the first time over a century ago. The restaurant has seen some changes over the decades, switching hands and even looks, but what has always remained the same is the Palace Saloon's amazing food, drinks and its commitment to the local community. Although the Palace Saloon has seen several changes and renovations throughout the last century, some things have never changed. The beautiful mahogany Brunswick bar is still in use, and the caring friendly staff, the delicious Mexican and American food, and the family-oriented business is the same as it has always been.

I was hoping to find a bit of a hidden gem in this place, but unfortunately this wasn't the case. The large margarita was more mix and sweetness than needed. The queso chicken chimichanga was good. The options for sides were rice and beans (either whole black beans or refried beans). I chose refried beans but still had to chew them as it had more whole beans than expected. I wasn't super impressed by the cheese dip either. The one reprieve was the guacamole as it was one of the best ones I've had in a long time.
I also had a 10% off, but the staff wasn't able to successfully quantify 10% of the total food price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 4, 2023
I love the ambiance of The Palace. Wednesdays are margarita night, great with donner of just some chips and their famous queso. Services is fast friendly, and frequent enough that you don't have to ask, but not so frequent that your party is interupted. You can sit at the ba or grab a table. A great place to see friends and family - it seems like everyone is either coming or going while you're here.
Parking is easy and you are just a short walk away from other great spots in the downtown. Definitely worth stopping by for a beverage, and a meal (or some chips and queso!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 17, 2022
Subpar, overpriced Mexican food. There aren't a lot of Mexican options around here so I can definitely understand the popularity of the place. Almost every table was full when we came in around 6 pm on a Sunday evening.
We got a few orders of their queso and flour chips and I will say that was really delicious. I'm always surprised when chips and salsa aren't complimentary, but it happens occasionally, so I just thought whatever, and since the flavor was so good, I was hopeful for the rest of the food/experience. I was looking for something light so I got a chicken wrap for my entree. It was just okay. It was not well seasoned at all, it didn't have a whole lot of flavor.
The real thing that bothered me is when we got our bill. The upcharges were insaneeee and numerous. For example, when you order they ask if you want rice & beans. We assumed this would be complimentary since they asked everyone, and most Mexican restaurants include these. They were not. They charged for that. Our bill ended up around $75 for only two people, which we felt is absolutely insane for a Mexican restaurant. Definitely wouldn't come back here until prices are less.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Beau R.Suisun City, CA185Aug 3, 2023
Great atmosphere and vibe, extremely helpful and friendly staff.
Food lacked flavor, very Americanized Mexican food. Ground beef has a very tangy spice to it not in line with traditional Spanish spices. Nothing to write home about for sure. If your looking for authentic Mexican I would suggest going else where.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paul S.Bay City, MI292May 24, 2023
Huge shoutout to Piper Quinn. We dropped in without reservations as a party of nine adults and two kids for dinner. We were seated immediately by a helpful young lady who was starting her second day. Piper drew the short straw and had to service our table. She did so with aplomb and skill. Piper was even able to maintain her composure while having to deal with me. Again kudus to Piper and the staff at The Palace Saloon.
As was expected the fod was good too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cassidy P.Seattle, WA0106Oct 28, 2023
service was excellent and the food was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend if you are around the soo and need a place to eat to stop in here. Nachos and Fajitas were good and the queso was to die for.

If I had the option of not eating for 48 hours or eating here again I would start meditating the steak I'm going to be eating in 48 hours.
I just ate perhaps the worst $17 burrito I've ever eaten (steak salsa style burrito), not only was it bland but it had a total of 1/4 cup of chopped steak inside of it and a can of warm diced tomatoes on top.
We also ordered their queso chimichanga, which was pretty decent, but the rice was overcooked and had a really strange taste to it. The queso we ordered for the table was cold, and there were no where near enough chips. When we asked our waitress for more chips, we waited for about 15 minutes before she brought them out.
Overall, the food was shockingly sub par and well overpriced for what you're getting. Save your time and money and eat somewhere else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2021

I don't live in the area so my review will be vague and to the point. The atmosphere was great. The service was spot on even with COVID happening. The wet burrito was spot on. The rice was a little dry which is why it got a 4. The chips were made in house and absolutely delicious. Overall this place is is the perfect place if you're in the mood for Mexican food. Make sure you try the chips.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jasmine A.Sault Ste. Marie, Canada02Sep 7, 2023
Save your money and go to Jose's instead. Expensive, tasteless, and non authentic . Also very limited menu.

I'm staying the area for the next few months and this place was really great! I had give credit where it's due. I took my Mother there and we had the German nachos, chicken quesadilla and a mixed fajita with all the works: beef, chicken and shrimp plus refried beans and rice. For dessert, a cheesecake chimichanga. Prices were fair in my opinion.
Service was pretty good and the margaritas looked good. I plan on trying those next time and other items on the menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
