Woman Says She Was Hit by Car; Police Say What Car?

Sharry Ductor says she was the victim of a hit-and-run while cycling in Canyon Park and sustained serious injuries.

The last thing Sharry Ductor remembers was cruising downhill past the ranger station on her way home from a bike ride on Sept. 4.

Ductor woke up in the hospital a day and a half later with a collapsed lung, six broken ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken shoulder, and she had no idea what had happened to her. Police believed she fell off her bicycle, but her doctors insist she was hit by a car.

Doctors told her that her injuries were too serious to have been caused by a simple spill off her bike, but Ductor and her husband have had trouble finding out exactly what happened to her.

"Why hasn’t someone come forward and said, 'This is what we saw.' I don’t understand it," Ductor said.

The park was busy that day, and Ductor said someone alerted rangers that she was unconscious in the middle of the road. But that person was gone by the time paramedics arrived, she said.

"Someone ran back to tell the pack station that a woman was in the road. Where is that person and what did they actually see?," Ductor said.

Signs posted at the park by her husband, David Ductor, didn't yield any leads either. He said authorities assumed his wife fell off her bike when they responded to the call and have not taken a report despite his two attempts to have them investigate.

Lt. Zeke Cerecerez said Ductor's injuries were treated as a medical assist call and a report was not filed on Sept. 4. He said there is no record of any other report being filed relating to Ductor's allegation.

David Ductor said his wife, a Monrovia hairdresser, could miss months of work recuperating from her injuries.

"That’s just a lot of trauma to go through," he said. "She’s been in an awful lot of pain."
