merry friday

28.12.12

if you're living in utah, it's pretty apparent these photos were not taken today
it hasn't stopped snowing for three days now and doesn't look like it's letting up anytime soon!
it's a good thing i decided to take a few photos last sunday because there is now a foot of snow outside my door!
as for what i'm wearing- these are a few of my faves (probably because the majority of it is from urban)!
let's start with this hat- oh this hat! i fell in love the second i saw it. hubs calls it my indiana jones hat and i've already worn it more than enough times to make it worth every penny.
then there is the bag. another fab find from urban that was a definite must have.
finally, this matching bull head necklace and earrings from jmr was only $11 and so so cute!
alright, enough outfit talk- i hope everyone had a very merry christmas! pictures will be coming soon of my amazing gift that my sweet hubby made me. so excited to show it off! :)

finally getting around to posting pictures of our weekend in heber and park city with my family!
since we were planning to spend christmas day with the in-laws this year, my family planned a weekend get-away filled with trains, santa encounters, hot cocoa, tube rides and some of the cutest little people you'll ever meet!

no, you're eyes are not deceiving you, that is a 10 person tubing train.
this little girl and her snowball- one of the guys at the lift gave it to her and she wouldn't let it go the whole time!
are these two not the cutest?! i'm hoping my babies will be half as cute!
just love this boy. so much.

merry christmas eve!

24.12.12

i hope everyone is ready for tomorrow and in the christmas spirit!
last night at the shelter was a great way to get even more excited about giving and the true meaning of christmas. this is definitely my favorite time of year and even with all the craziness, it's such a great time to be with the ones you love and count our many blessings.

even with all the busyness i had time to snap a few photos yesterday of my outfit. the weather has been almost ridiculous for the end of december! the sun was shining and it was warm enough i didn't even need a jacket. whaaaat?!
some of you may or may not love the androgynous look. maybe it has something to do with being a bit of a tom-boy growing up, but i love a little "boyish" feel to an outfit from time to time. whether it's boyfriend jeans, comfy flannel or maybe a man's fit button down and a tie :)
paired with a very feminine pair of leggings and some hot spiked heels and you can't go wrong!
i hope everyone has a VERY merry christmas!!

when ye are in the service of your fellow men...

23.12.12

we had an awesome opportunity tonight to work with an organization called soul food usa
and go to two different homeless shelters to serve food
every other sunday this organization does what they call "soul food sunday". volunteers can sign up online at soulfoodusa.org and they get together, make or put together a large amount of food (usually sandwiches, tonight we did chili) and then head to "the road home" in midvale and then to the shelter downtown to serve up to 400 people! this is an amazing organization and is an amazing cause. i was so impressed with the people who put this together, who take time out of their lives to serve and do something good for others who are less fortunate. most volunteers brought their families and it was so neat seeing all the people that came out to help, including little ones, even if it was just to sing christmas carols :)
it's a good reminder of how truly blessed i am and how grateful i am for opportunities that not only humble me, but bring to light the importance of the season and how easily we can get caught up in the hustle and bustle of this time of year.

they did tell us although they get a lot of help during the holiday season- they can really use help throughout the rest of the year. if you're at all interested, you can sign up at http://soulfoodusa.org/contribute-to-the-cause/volunteer. you'll probably see us there!

definitely the best way i could have spent my sunday evening...

old and random...

i was looking back through a few old photos that i had taken for possible outfit posts and found this one. although it's obviously not current, it's a favorite.
this sweater is all over pinterest, but the second i saw it online at one of my favorite online stores- and for 30% off, i knew it was mine. mine all mine.
life has been a bit ho-hum lately so this is all for now.
