NBCWe haven't seen the last of Gwen Stefani on The Voice, which is good for NBC, because otherwise we're pretty sure we'd lead a revolt.
Adorable flirtations with Blake Shelton aside, Gwen Stefani is a national treasure and an excellent addition to the show's line-up of coaches. While she will not be a coach in season 10 thanks to the return of Christina Aguilera, NBC presidents Bob Greenblatt and Paul Telegdy seem to be sure that she won't stay away for long.
NBC confirmed that Gwen will definitely be back at some point, and Greenblatt responded with a "maybe" when asked if she might return as an adviser (Maybe for Blake's team?) for season 10 this spring.
"We're announcing those advisers in the next couple of weeks but she's very close to the show," he continued.
Telegdy, who oversees The Voice, could also do nothing but praise the "Used to Love You" singer, both on behalf of himself and a certain other Voice coach.
"We'd love to see Gwen back. She's a great friend of this network, we love her, the audience loves her, lots of people love her."
"Blake apparently loves her," one reporter added.
"He does," Telegdy agreed.
As for whether Gwen will return for the fall season, Telegdy couldn't say for sure.
"We don't know yet," he said. "We know what we're doing in the spring, because the diva's back, Christina's coming back, and for the fall, we've got the Olympics, so I would only tease that yes, there will probably be some familiar faces. As I say, we like to switch it up, so I think there will be some fresh faces too."
When asked about the possibility of having two female coaches on the show at once, which has not happened yet in 10 seasons, Telegdy "would love to," but has no official plans to make it happen yet.
"I think it's about the right mix, and that's a party I'd love to be invited to if I was in any way musically talented," he said. "It's a machine, so finding the right combination would lead us down that path."
Greenblatt also teased some "exciting talk" for coaches next year, but refused to elaborate further with any names.
One thing that Telegdy could confirm for the show's 11th season was that Blake Shelton and Adam Levine aren't going anywhere, and that neither artist has ever expressed interest in leaving the show.
"They'll be back in the fall 100%," he said, which is good news for fans of their continuing bromance.
As for fans of Gwen and Blake, hopefully they'll be back on screen together before we know it, but until then, we'll just wait for the release of Gwen's new solo album, due out sometime this year.
The Voice returns Monday, February 29 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
