Suspect Tried to Steal Lobsters from Roche Bros

Once confronted the suspect dropped the lobsters and fled with other merchandise.

 

A Roslindale man dropped four lobsters at the exit of after being confronted by security. The suspect fled with other merchandise, but was subsequently caught by Boston Police on an MBTA bus.

arrested Michael Bradley, of 2 Prospect Ave., Roslindale, and charged him with shoplifting between $50 and $200, larceny from a person, and intimidation of a witness, on Dec. 23 at 12:56 p.m.

Boston Police arrived at Roche Bros in West Roxbury and the store manager pointed officers towards the Belgrade Avenue parking lot exit, adding a store loss prevention employee was following the suspect.

Officers caught up with the employee who provided a description of the suspect, who was traveling on the #36 MBTA bus down Belgrade Avenue, according to a police report.

The store loss employee said he knew the suspect as "Mike" and that he observed him take four lobsters of various weights and Gillette razors from the store without paying. The store employee said he confronted the suspect at the exit of Roche Bros after all points of purchase, and the suspect dropped the lobsters, but had the razors concealed and fled. 

The store employee said that he confronted the suspect by the bus stop, who tried to take the employee's cell phone when trying to call 911 to report the theft.

Video surveillance of the thefts was to be provided by Roche Bros' employees, as requested by officers. The total value of the recovered merchandise was $170.85, with the lobsters valued at $65.74.
