I just went out and bought need for speed most wanted , and now I can't install it. :x :x

First and foremost, it cannot show me the End User License Agreement. It's just completely blank. If I click "I agree" to that, I am told to go to www.microsoft.com/windows/directx to download Directx9.0c. Obviously, I had already done that ages ago. Then I do it again. Because it's already installed, however, DirectX setup does nothing, really. After installing, I try to install again but get the same message!

how can i solve this problem.................???

Hopefully we can help each other out.

disable your Antivirus scanner

then try installing this game again.

tell me if that helped a bit

I am having problems installing also...and their tech support is giving me generic responses and a copy procedure that does not work.

I also get a blank license agreement.

installation:

on one drive it gets stuck on recognizing disk 2 --please insert disk 2 over and over
On my other drive...it gets stuck on disk 3.

So i think their copy protection is not compatible with my drives.

From their instructions...i copied the game stuff onto my second HDD --> disk images/disk1/disk2/disk3/disk4.

But, it now asks me to insert cd/dvd 2 into F: (my hdd) instead of d: my dvd rewriter.

Both my drives are LG dvd rewriters (diff models tho)

I run win2000 sp4.

How the hay do i install this game? :(

And age of empires 3 --only on winXP..argh. I have to stop making assumptions.

I had this same problem installing the demo of the game on my comp. The problem lies in the .DLL version for Directx that the game is looking for. It's looking for a specific version of Directx 9.0c which I didn't have (even though I installed the latest version of Directx from Microsoft AGAIN!!). The way I corrected the problem was to pull the directx .dll files from the CD (or in my case the demo install files) and copy them to the C:/Windows/System32 folder. The .dll files should be located in a folder called Directx on the CD. This way when you go to install it will "see" the version it was looking for and complete the installation. You will know immediately if it has worked if you can see the EULA during the install.

Hope this helps out.

but the game installs DX9c//whether you want it to or not. So those files should be the right ones.

i gave up and tried installing it on a friends computer (same burner model)
with XP instead of win2000. It installed fine.

i don't understand why.

I posted a possible fix in the same forum. Just thought that you'd like a heads-up.

The issue is DRM/Region settings, actually - this also was my fix for BF2 as well. EA Games is horrible about this sort of thing and they do know what's causing it - just they don't want to tell anyone(simmilar to Microsoft and Sony).

Well I'm sure many of you may have figured out this simple fix, for the install. In windows xp, simply open the cd, and right click on autorun.exe. Next select compatibility and set it to windows 2000. Click ok, the run the program. once this is done it will installand go to install direct x 9.0c, if you have a newer direct x will not install, but the install will work without a hitch.

*edit*

Forgot to mention once the game is installed go back to the autorun file and turn off compatibility mode since it is nolonger required.

yep... picked up NFSMW:BE and i can't do a blamed thing with it... i've made sure i'm updated, i've read the technical fun stuff, and i've searched online FAQs... nothing has helped so far... i'm pretty sure i'm not on drugs... the only compatibility issue i have shouldn't really be an issue at all: my GeForce Go 6400 isn't listed, but it's basically an overclocked 6200 which is on the list... wtf--i just want to tear up some tarmac in a Porsche... HELP!! 8O

i'm updated on everything, as i noted above... the update patch would be a novel idea except for one small detail--the game will not install... :x

You are right babchar2002, you need to do the following:

1. After you mount the game image, copy all the files to you hard drive in one folder for example NFSMW.

2. Open the NFSMWAutorun folder..and then open the file autorun.cfg with Notepad.

3. Look for the parameter DirectXVersion=9.0c and change the 9.0c to 0 and save the file.

4. Run the Setup from your hard drive folder and ENJOY!!

I hope this helps...

Looks to me like you do not have a legit product on your hands. If you do, let me know (quickly), otherwise refrain from further posting. We do not condone the usage of or discussion about warez on these forums.

Which is why I ask (technically) for a confirmation that this is not about warez. Of course, having a legitimate product also means you have access to the publisher's or developer's helpdesk for technical assistance.

Hello sum1s2pid,
I have installed NFS MW on my WinXP 64-bit edition by your suggested method. Thanks as it got installed, but now when I tried to run it says encountered error and needs to close. No other information. I tried to run it's easyinfo tool in support folder and it shows operation system qualification as Failed. There it is recognised as Windows 2003 family. I don't have any clue please help.

I've got the same problem but it's already been fixed:

DirectX Error when Installing:
When installing the game if you get an error
that DirectX9.0c is not installed, even if you've
installed DX9.0c already, then find the game's
Autorun.exe file (in the base directory of the game CD),
right-click on it, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab,
tick the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and select
'Windows 2000'. Then double-click on Autorun.exe to begin installation.
Make sure to turn off compatibility mode after installing the game.
