The Unforgettables: What you need to pack for a trip to Nevada

Nevada is a destination best known for the bright lights and buzzing energy of Las Vegas, and while this one city hosts more than 40 million visitors each year, Nevada is about so much more.

From stilettos to ski boots, Nevada is a paradox, with many contrasts and contradictions. And if you’re planning on venturing outside Vegas, this can sometimes make packing tricky. As such, the following is a list of the unforgettables – everything you should have when packing for a trip to Nevada.

Swimming gear for Sparks

One of the most popular things to do in Sparks is visit Marina Park – a lake retreat that spans across 81 acres and offers public swimming holes, beaches, fishing piers, walking paths, volley ball nets and children’s playgrounds.

The city is also near Lake Tahoe, and many Sparks hotels also have pools on site. There is plenty of opportunity here to spend time in the water, so be sure to pack your swimming gear. Especially if your’re traveling during  the hot summer months.

Golf clubs for Mesquite

Mini golf

Mesquite is a major golfing destination, so anyone traveling here should pack their golf clubs and reserve a tee time. There are five different golf courses to choose from in the foothills of the dramatic Virgin Mountains, each offering a unique playing experience.

The Casa Blanca Golf Club is a beautiful course set in the wetlands of the Valley. A championship golf course home to the Nevada Open each year, this course winds in and out of the Virgin River basin offering a new experience on every tee. Also consider playing at Conestoga Golf Course, and the Coyote Springs Golf Club.

Drivers licence for Henderson

Henderson is the second largest city in Nevada after Las Vegas, and while it is far less flamboyant, it certainly makes up for it in activities. From eight championship golf courses, to the Botanical Cactus Garden with the world’s largest collection of cactus’, the veteran’s War Memorial Wall or the Bird Viewing Preserve, there are a huge range of things to do.

Activities in Henderson are quite spread out, and with so much on offer, the easiest way to get around is by car. The city’s proximity to Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam also make it a great base for day trips around Nevada.

Sense of adventure for Stateline

Stateline is on the east shore of Lake Tahoe, so there are plenty of adventurous activities on offer here for those in search of adrenaline.

Pack your sense of adventure for white water rafting, helicopter tours, or even hang gliding. There are action water sports like jet skiing, and natural scenery that borders on the ridiculously beautiful.

Appetite for Laughlin

Restaurants in Laughlin offer a diverse range of dishes that will please any palate, but all share one common request for travelers – come hungry.

There is something here for every appetite. Local favorites include Bumbleberry Flats for a unique assortment of breakfast, lunch and dinner items boasting American comfort food with a Southern twist. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. speacilalizes in fantastic seafood.
