What is PRO-RATA?
A simple formula =
Occupation Quota left for the year
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Remaining number of invitation rounds for the year

Since some occupation groups have high number of applications throughout the year, so DIBP decides to pro-rate that ANZSCO Group in order to make those occupations alive for the whole year.

Example: On July 1st, Accountants belong to ANZSCO Group code (first four digits of your nominated occupation): 2211, have 2,500 ceiling value for the year and usually there are 24 invitation rounds per year (2 rounds per month). So for all occupations under Accountants group, DIBP limits the number of invitations to 104 per round (2,500/24 = 104).

PS. The number of invitations may not be the same in all invitation rounds (as per the above example) since it remains the decision of DIBP.
