MLB
The Detroit Tigers scored eight runs in the ninth inning, and came from behind to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays 10-7 last night. The Rays took control early, scoring five runs off Jordan Zimmermann, who labored through six innings. Detroit got on the board with two in the sixth, but the Rays got those back off Anibal Sanchez in the eighth inning, and headed into the final frame with a five-run lead. The Tigers used six singles and a sacrifice fly to close the gap to one. With the bases loaded, Jose Iglesias walked to tie the game, and a walk to Ian Kinsler forced in the winning run. Cameron Maybin tacked on two insurance runs with a double. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning to earn the save. The last time Detroit overcame a five-run deficit in the ninth inning to win a game was 1998.

The Tigers continue that series at Tampa Bay tonight. Michael Fulmer will start against former Tiger Drew Smyly. Hear the first pitch at 7:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Zach Davies struggled, as the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-1 yesterday afternoon. Davies left the game in the fifth inning. He gave up eight hits – three of them homers – and was charged with six runs.

The Brewers open a series against the Cardinals in Saint Louis tonight. Matt Garza will pitch against Jaime Garcia.
