Jason Luke

Jason Luke enjoyed several years involved in the BDSM lifestyle - but he is quick to point out that his experiences don't qualify him as an expert, any more than knowing how to drive a car makes him a qualified mechanic. 'Interview with a Master' is a novel about how one man became a Master. The book is a work of fiction, but Jason has drawn heavily on encounters from his own real life. He won't say which parts of the book are fictionalised, and which parts are auto-biographical.

Erotic BDSM fiction written by a man from a man's point of view.

4.5 Magnificent Stars!
An Enchanting, Beautiful Love Story that Dazzled Me from the Start and Enthralled Me To the Very End!

The Review:
The Light House was a captivating, sweet and angsty romance that had me enamored, staying up all night just to get to the phenomenal ending. It's rich, breathtaking scenery mixed with a beguiling love story and phenomenal writing encompassed and intrigued me! I loved this read!

Story/Characters...
Wracked with shame, Connie escapes to the small, picturesque town of Hoyt Harbor on the quiet shores of Maine, for a short reprieve to rethink her life's course. After a disappointing past four years filled with regrets and failed dreams, she’s ready for a change. Her dream of being an artist were slowly and methodically snuffed out as the domineering Duncan, a wealthy, shameless procurer of beauty and destroyer of spirit, took without giving as promised. Reevaluating her life means abandoning the secure prison he's encased her in but her strength and fortitude find her innocently touring the charms of the local establishments, where she unearths a lost and mysterious treasure of great value. Her spirits high for the first time in years, she sets out to find the lost artist in the hopes of salvaging what’s left of her dreams.

Blake McGarth, arguably the most achieved artist of the twenty first century has left the art world behind after fate stole his most precious gifts and he vowed never to return. But after rescuing the mesmerizing young Connie from a storm, his forgotten past is suddenly and unexpectedly resurrected and along with it, all the anguish he's tried unsuccessfully to bury for the past five years. A prisoner of his own making, Blake has secluded himself away, but when fate comes knocking once again, he might just find the one thing he's been secretly hoping for... redemption.

This was a beautiful, inspiring love story with shocking and heartbreaking events that spoke of redemption, rebirth and perseverance.

The Blake we see is a humble man drowning in guilt. He blames himself and fate for stealing his hope and his passions, his guilt sinking him into a colorless world of darkness. Yet when faced with the opportunity to smudge out a small portion of that guilt, he grabs onto it with a renewed vow to make it right. I enjoyed his character so much as I grew to truly care about what had happened to him and what was happening to him. My heart broke for all he suffered but I was left with a tremendous amount of hope for him and the life he was recreating for himself.

Connie was a beautiful, caring, soulful character. Right from the beginning you could connect with her. She’s on the run from a man who has had a hand in crushing the vibrant parts of her and her life hasn’t been all charms and joy but she pushed through all that and ultimately decided to conquer her fails. Meeting Blake was a chance encounter that changed everything for both of them.
Getting to know Blake and Connie as their passions and history were explored while watching their slow build towards a sweet, everlasting love was fun and exciting. This author takes us on an incredible, inspiring journey with a clean, powerful message filled with hope.

The Wrap Up:
This was a true blue, real romance and I loved everything about it. Jason Luke has an undeniably talented way of painting a colorful canvas with a stunning palette of words you can’t help but immerse yourself in as his scenes come to life inside your mind. This story will be one I read and reread time and again.

This is my first read by this author. Sitting here writing this review I can hear my friend Sue shouting at me to read Interview with a Master. I'll now be nagging at her to read this wonderful story.

This was a really brilliant well-written emotional love story. I absolutely loved Connie and Blake. Both characters have pasts that broke them. Can they save each other and move on??

I was hooked from the start and read this book in one sitting. I found it to be unputdownable. I can't recommend this highly enough. Definitely on my to re-read list. Loved it.

Connie is a disillusioned artist and art dealer. With an accidental discovery, Connie pushes her way into Blake McGrath’s life, interrupting his self-imposed isolation. Through Connie, Blake rediscovers his passion for art and living.

The two of them are at very low points in their lives. Both had been through some very trying and tragic times, and survived, but neither one was really living. By finding each other, they both learn that love, hope and belief in each other really can conquer all.

I loved this story. I loved both Connie and Blake. Connie and her need to get herself out of her troubled relationship. Blake and his desire to be alone until he realized he was truly lonely. Both needed each other to become whole again. Jason Luke’s ability to immerse the reader into his writing is amazing. I felt like I was a fly on the wall, witnessing and feeling the story as it unfolded.

Art, the majesty of the ocean, and falling in love... Three of my favorite things and I loved how Jason Luke interwove all three into The Light House. ~ Missy, 5 stars

~~~
This book was so different from anything from Jason Luke than I have read before. It is a story about love, and finding your way when you seem to be lost, and overcoming self-doubt.
Connie is a woman who is in a situation she is not sure how to get out of. Her life is essentially controlled by her boss and she owes him a huge debt she is unsure she can ever repay.
Blake is a man with a tragic story who is a prisoner to his own sorrow. He is a world renowned artist who seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. When Connie more or less stumbles upon his whereabouts, neither of them will ever be the same.
The characters together learn how to heal and move past what they think is standing in the way of life. And with the help of Ned the dog, they learn to open their hearts up to love.
While I really liked the story, some of the writing seemed a bit too formal, and the conversations stiff. I would definitely recommend this book however; it was a quick read with a great message. ~ Devlynn, 4 stars
I am a huge fan of Jason Luke and I really enjoyed his books,Interview with a master, In love with a master and interview with a porn star.
From the off I'm going to say that JL has gone completely off kilter with this book and if you are looking for a saucy read then, you will not be getting one!
JL really has a unique writing style, it's beautiful,poetic at times and enchanting, I think he could write my christmas card list and make it beautiful. I struggle with writing in the third person but this was just amazingly written and I felt emotional throughout the book.
In JL style the book features a tortured man in the shape of Blake, he is battling his demons, he is dark but, he is also light and he was an intriguing character and I was drawn to him and I immediately loved him and his dog Ned.
Connie is a great character on the run from a controlling man, she discovers blake and an unlikely friendship forms. The connection between these two is apparent from their first meeting and i enjoyed their journey.
The book was a beautiful read and didn't need kink or dirty sex, it really is what it says on the tin 'A Love Story.' I'm finding it quite hard to find the words to describe how I feel about this book, but its a great read, its very powerful and an amazing story.
This is a contemporary romance. I read lots of romance and this one is going in my "best liked" folder with many other great reads. This book was written very well in the third person narration set in the present by a great male romance author-Jason Luke. This book is about a woman who is tired of being used and after stumbling upon some rare art and artist who had left the art world, decides it's time for her to fulfill her dreams. He after having some tragedies has become a recluse but she brightens his life and they develop a great romance. he has so much to deal with and this book takes you in directions you don't see coming.
I really enjoyed this book. I smiled, I cried, I loved how the author takes you through the emotional journey with the characters, and how detailed the author was when he was teaching her painting. I have read other works from this author and I definitely will be reading more.
Jason Luke has written a true masterpiece in The light house! This epic love story has touched not only my heart, but my soul as well! It made me feel emotions so deep, that I have no doubt that it will stay with me for a very long time! Love, hate, grief, hope, joy, tragedy and humor.....you can find it all in The light house! As with all of Jason's books, it gripped me from the first page and held me through to the very last word! I am a huge fan of Jason Luke's, have read all of his books and LOVED them! Loved this book...very different from his other books but that's what made it so amazing. I would have liked more descriptive sex scenes because...well I'm a pervert....but I was ok with what I got because the story itself was fulfilling enough.
Favorite Quotes:
“The sudden silence was deafening.”
“Blake saw something move behind Connie’s gaze, some liquid stir of secret emotion.”
“Her sister reminded Connie of a dried flower, or maybe a black and white photo. Somewhere in her past, the color had been drained from her life, and Connie couldn’t quite recall when.”
“’There are two things that define a person,’ he said levelly. ‘Your patience when you have nothing, and your attitude when you have everything.’”
“The moment he kissed her had haunted her ever since. She still felt little flutters of her heart, like lingering tremors that follow a quake.”
“’I’ve spent endless hours studying your face and talking photos of you,’ Blake said solemnly ‘and yet I don’t think I ever saw you quite as clearly, or as perfectly as I see you right now.’”
My Review:
Despite my love of steamy books, I may have been one of the few people alive who had not read a Jason Luke book, yeah - I know! But until I recently picked up The light house, I belonged to that tiny minority. I get it now – this guy has some writing chops. Mr. Luke’s descriptive writing for The light house was emotive, melancholy, and quite moving. I wasn’t expecting such a tender and gentle love story between a grieving male recluse, and a woman running away from her poor choices. At times the story seemed a bit melodramatic, but grief does bring those overlays to bear. I was captivated by both the plot and the writing style, and breezed right through the book in a day. But to my vast shock and despite Mr. Luke’s erotic reputation, this book was so tame I plan to recommend it to my elderly mother and her Sunday School book club… you heard me… there were no graphic sexual scenes, in fact, there was no sex at all until I was at the 70% mark, and even then, it was PG rated. I am stunned, but my mother and her blue haired friends will be delighted.
Jason Luke has just shown how multi-faceted his talent is for the written word.
What an amazing love story this was. The Lighthouse has feel of sensual and sweet in as much as the beguiling prose teases tickles your senses and feeds you a hypnotically beautiful romance, I don’t know if that is what Jason was striving for, but it’s certainly how I felt whilst reading. It has I suppose a feel of yesteryear but there is no yesteryear about this. It is modern day, presented with flair and the element of ‘love story’ is forefront in all its glory from start to finish.
Jason has captured the tumultuous life of Blake brilliantly. Oh boy did I feel the need to gulp back some straining emotions as his reason for being at The Lighthouse was revealed.
Connie was a great heroine, right from the start she is engaging and surrounds you with her love and understanding, her underlying determination too is her strength. What she has endured with Duncan is well appalling and that phone call to Duncan and who he had in his office, epitomised what an ass he really was and what a pig of man had ensnared Connie.
I pretty much loved every single word of the The Lighthouse, it was different from in as much as I would happily let my daughter read this as a teenager, it’s the stuff heady love stories are made off and what all ‘girls’ swoon to read without any graphic behaviour and eroticism. Imagination plays a big part and I loved that.
I wasn’t truly expecting the read I just received especially after recently finishing The Word Master, but it really does goes to show how diverse Jason can be with his written word. I truly thoroughly enjoyed this read and it’s worth every single one of its five stars.
I received a copy of The Lighthouse in return for an honest review, my reviews are my own and are 100% honest.
5 Stars!
I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!
Connie was determined to leave the man who has used and belittled her for so long. On her escape she stubbles across Blake McGrath a world famous artist the world hasn’t heard from in years. Connie helps Blake to feel again; in return Blake helps Connie to follow her dreams.
This is a contemporary romance like no other; Jason Luke has an amazing way with words. The way he structures his sentences, paragraphs and chapters has you captivated with each and every turn of the page. Jason has a way of getting the words to flow effortlessly, enigmatically and fascinatingly, his characters are always intriguing, no matter the characters personality you always want to know their story. Both Connie and Blake have a past full of hurt; you can feel each of their struggles as they talk of their past and how they have come to be where they are now. The love they have for each other comes across strongly; each wanting happiness for the other.
The descriptions of art techniques really added to this story. I don’t have much knowledge of art and I can’t say if the descriptions used are accurate, however this story is fictional and either way, what I read was written skilfully and gave great insight into their story making it very believable as if you are reading a true account of someone’s life story. I absolutely loved this contemporary romance; this is not your typical predictable romance story; it’s a beautiful, powerful and heartfelt love story one of hope and rediscovery.
If you have read any of Jason Luke’s books and love contemporary romances; without a doubt you will absolutely love The Light House.
The Light House was an unexpected treasure to read. Jason Luke has created a book that provides mystery, romance, tragedy and healing. A beautiful book of love, redemption and new beginnings. Connie is a woman who has suffered enough at the hands of Duncan. A man who has kept her under his thumb and his threats keep her from running. Blake is the man who saves her and she rescues him in return.
The book begins slow as it builds the story, but gradually picks up pace and it will be hard to put down after a time. The prologue is dark and sad as we are learning about Connie's state of mind. It gives us a connection to her. I admit I lost a bit of this connection when she is in the art gallery and finds a painting and becomes a bit over the top manic in meeting the artist. Reading Duncan's cold and abusive scene with another artist was chilling. Knowing this is what Connie has dealt with up to this point. Blake is brooding, mysterious and sad, even so I feel more connected to him than any of the other characters in the book. He seems more real.
Feeling the anticipation build for this romance to bloom into something was a constant ache in my chest! Also waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop with Duncan kept me on edge. Then BOOM! A twist I should have seen coming but didn't and it changed everything and I was so sucked in and lost. I still can not connect to Connie to much but I had no problem connecting to Blake and the empathy he created was phenomenal. The ending was excellent. I highly recommend this book
First of all: This Book is different! If you expect another "Master-Story", you will be surprised. Like I was!
Story:
The talented painter Connie Dixon is searching for deversion and rest, after a great dissapointment, at the Coast of Maine.
She's finding Blake McGrath! A famous painter, who withdraw himself out of the Public since a long time. A heavy blow has lead him into seclusion. Connie was fascinated about him, but he refused her. She doesn't give up and get’s him out of his home-made isolation.
Then the destiny hits again and puts both of them to a test.
My Mind:
Jason Like is my Champion of Words! The magic of his speech is powerful but sensitiv. I can hear the waves across the coast and I feel the breeze pull at my hair. He let me mourn with Blake and let me hope again with Connie.
No other Lovestory had ever affected me like this.
I love it!
*ARC received in exchange for an honest review.*
This was one of the most beautifully stunning reads that I have read in a long time. The descriptions of everything were on point and 'painted' the picture of such a surreal place. You can picture everything as if you are there, you feel emotionally attached to the story as well as the characters.
This gripping read was full of love, laughs and heartbreaking elements. I found myself teary eyed in a couple of places, and I'm not to shallow to admit that. Considering the nature of this Author's other books, to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I have to thank the author immensely for letting me review this for him.
This is one of those books you can't put down yet don't want to ever finish, a book you want to prolong and cherish. It was amazing and I'm pretty sure I'll be reading this again in the future.
Just amazing!! A work of art
I loved this book so much! At the beginning of it wasn’t very sure if I liked it, but there’s so much passion throughout the story that’s imposible not to feel every emotion the characters feel
This book surprised me with how well it’s paced, researched, and written.
The length was fitting, the plot had great depth, and the characters were well represented without being overly explained.
I would read more Jason Luke after this first encounter.
*Uncertainty is just another word for adventure.*
I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this story... but what I found was an incredible tale. Highly emotive and gut wrenching. There were several times where I was like this, I won't lie:
description
Connie Dixon had a dream... and that dream was crushed by one man.
*In the four years since, her dream had died, stolen from her by Duncan's ruthless need to have her - to own her completely. There had been no exhibitions, only slowly mounting debt as he continued to support her until she realized, too late, that he had brought her, body and soul.*
The poor thing! Duncan is definitely an ass -_- But while she is taking a break from him and life, Connie finds her ticket out! She also realizes that she may have found a lost artist.
Blake McGrath finds Connie when she crashes her car. And he takes care of her... aww. I absolutely love Ned, Blake's Great Dane. He is the sweetest thing ever! So loyal and sweet! Well you can imagine Blake's reaction to someone finding him... ticked off! But he is surprised that is Connie. As the story progress... you get the feeling that Blake has gone through some difficult and dark times.
Eventually when Connie leaves, it's so sad. Even Ned seems sad that she is leaving! Blake is an incredible gentleman and helps Connie on her way. This was a beautifully heartbreaking line he said to her:
*"Don't make my mistake ... Don't take your focus off what matters in life. Remember to never forget those you love or care for - don't let fate make you regret your choices."*
Aww :'( Well Connie finally sets herself free from Duncan but she feels a pull. A pull that brings her back to Blake. Just to see him one last time. They both confess that they wanted to see each other again which is so sweet! And Connie asks him to help her with her dream which he agrees to with one condition. He wants to paint her portrait. Aw so romantic. I just love their time together. And the first time they give in to each other... phew! That was hot ;)
Both Connie and Blake are damaged in some way but Connie is still hopeful. And she wants to give that to Blake. Every time things were going so brilliantly for them, my heart was tight, waiting for something to come and ruin it for them. It was like a shadow cast over them that they couldn't escape. Until Connie risks everything for them and their relationship. There were times where I wasn't sure what would happen and it squeezed my heart. And Connie's test near the end almost crushed me.
I found the writing to be very fluid. You easily and seamlessly flow into the story and become part of the writing. I was taken aback by this story. It has this Nicholas Sparks' feel to it and I mean that as a compliment to Mr. Luke. I've cried in a few of those movies too. Mr. Luke has done a remarkable job with this story. The emotion, the flow and the characters. I adored both Connie and Blake and despised Duncan. If you want a love story that overcomes pain and sorrow, you need to read this. It will break your heart and make you whole again.
When I was offered the opportunity to read The Light House by Jason Luke I was intrigued. Having read his erotica/BDSM and zombie books I had a feeling that new adult/contemporary romance would provide a wonderful platform to showcase the mastery of his craft.
My thoughts were confirmed within the first chapter of the book. It seems that with whatever genre Jason writes, I am always guaranteed a story written with such grace and elegance. Where the words I read paint pictures that come alive within my mind.
Every story Jason writes contains lessons in life, love, hope and survival. The Light House is a stunning reflection of all of these things and so much more.
Encompassing his unique and wonderful talent at writing such expressive imagery, I could not help but feel an ease of comfort overtake my senses while reading.
The Light House is a beautifully told story of two people, whose pasts haunt and dictate their lives. Connie whose fierce determination to escape the past is shrouded in fear. Knowing if she does not break away from the darkness that has become her life she will end up a shadow of her former self. Duncan is so blindsided by his past he willing submits to sadness and sorrow. Grief, anguish and a solitary life, Duncan lives within himself never allowing the light to shine down upon him.
All of the characters within this story were written with such realism. Connection to these characters was instant. Each unique unto their own, we are treated to a wonderfully diverse cast. Though some roles are small their presence enhances the storyline. They bring laughter, sadness, sorrow, hope and despair. There are characters you warm up to immediately, some make you laugh while others bring warnings and for me at least an intense feeling of dislike. As each character enters into the story it only adds depth and emotion to the journey we are taken on.
Emotions run rampant within this story. You feel sorrow, pain, loss, desperation, hurt, hope, wonderment, love, determination and salvation. The story is written with such a wonderful flow that you revel in the highs and your heart clenches in the lows. The author gently takes us up the hill only to have us tumble down wondering what will happen next.
The Light House is a story of two people living two very separate lives while unknowingly sharing the same passion. A story of letting go of the past and looking towards the future. A story of finding the person you used to be, the person you lost so long ago. A tender story of rediscovery of one’s self, hopes and dreams. A story of compassion and learning to live with what life has given and what life has taken away. A story so rich and engaging I found that I could not put this book down
I knew going in that this book would be beautifully written—Jason Luke is one of the best modern writers around. I knew that because he wrote it, I would love it. I subscribe to his daily blog, jasonluke.typepad.com, so I knew he had it in him to make a reader feel a deep range of emotion. However, romance not being my normal genre of choice, I wasn’t sure it would be entirely my thing. I was wrong—very wrong. This novel transcends “genre”. It’s a love story, I’ll agree with that. A contemporary romance if you want to be precise. But…it’s a top-notch novel under any label and the best thing I’ve read in a long time. It blew me away. I picked it up late one Friday night, fell asleep (begrudgingly) with my Kindle in my hands reading it, then woke up the next morning and dove immediately into it again over coffee and never came up for air until I was left reeling from the whirlwind. It’s a suspenseful page-turner, jam-packed with emotion, rich with characters you feel in your soul, and a giant, drooling beast of a dog that will make you laugh out loud throughout the story.
It’s hard to discuss the skillfully told story without giving away too much, but I can tell you that Blake McGrath is an artist who has lost his way through tragedy. He’s given up his craft and withdrawn from the world, taking residence in a remote beach house in coastal Maine. Connie Dixon is an art dealer escaping her own demons of the past when she happens upon a painting that changes both of their lives forever. Like other Jason Luke novels, this book twists and turns—you’ll gasp more than once. What surprised me with this book, however, was the well-rounded, relatable characters, as well as the depth of their emotion. You FEEL Blake and Connie; they will never leave you. You’ll shed tears, yes, but this isn’t a tearjerker; it’s a story of redemption, of hope. Love is lost, but it is also found. I’m so glad I didn’t get hung up on genre labels with this one—The light house is his best novel yet, and given his prior work, that is no small statement. I can’t wait to see what’s next—this book has proven to me that Jason Luke is not just a great erotica writer, not just a great romance writer, but a truly great writer. Fans of Nicholas Sparks will love this book, but truly it transcends that. I would recommend this book to anyone, male or female, romance lover or not, looking for an all-around great read. Give this one a chance and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
*Gifted for an honest review* 5 Stars
“…clinging to each other like desperate survivors of some perilous tragedy that had almost torn apart their lives.”
Aw yes, brilliant and right up my street! I’ve never read any of Jason Luke’s work before but I have most definitely heard of him and have a few of his other books, so I wasn’t really altogether sure what I was getting. I would push the boat out as far as to say that this is a bit more in depth than his previous work as I know he writes erotica. Now Art is something I absolutely love and garner so much emotion from that this book spoke to me in all the right ways. I don’t know if it would everyone but it most certainly did for me. I so got that part of it and understood the emotions from that angle.
This is truly a work of art; it’s in the words, the story, the description, and the emotions. It’s utter perfection. There’s no dilly dallying about trying to grasp a connection with the characters, it’s there and it’s pretty instantaneous. Connie and Blake are characters you feel for and feel with. Their actions are so emotive and even when there is no dialogues going on you feel you are right there in the moment with them at every turn.
This is so beautifully written that at times it exudes a wistfulness that surrounds you, brings you into their story tenfold, I could quite often imagine myself standing right on that beach with them. The description of the paintings is so good that your mind conjures them and you feel like you can almost reach out and touch them.
There’s heartbreak and betrayal penned in amongst Connie and Blakes story that make up their being and it feels sad in the right places but joyful in others. Their relationship is simple and beautiful and Jason Luke has somehow managed to pen it in such a way that this story is so very hard to forget. It is definitely something that will stay with me for more reasons than the plot line. This is a winner in all its shape and form and truly deserves the recognition for what it is. I liked that the “love” scenes weren’t so descriptive, it suited the story far better than a piece of eroticism in amongst some top notch writing, you had to use your imagination but it made it no less powerful, perhaps even more so!
I loved the ending, it seemed somewhat fitting. There were no loose ends to tie up and you were left with a good feeling altogether. Superb and so worthy of 5 stars. Highly recommended and an unforgettable piece of writing.
IF YOU ENJOY NICHOLS SPARKS,
YOU ARE SURELY TO ENJOY THIS HEART-FELT 5-STAR ROMANCE! ‘1-CLICK’ TODAY!
Connie Dixon was beautiful and caring, but there was one man that was crushing everything she was – Duncan Cartwright. Duncan was her boss at the art gallery she worked at and he act as if he owned every part of her for last four years with promises to support her career filling her head with future exhibitions and a chance to be a famous artist. Connie despised him for he owned her.
“There had been no exhibitions, only slowly mounting debt as he continued to support her until she realized, too late, that he had bought her, body and soul.”
Escaping to Maine for two week on a vacation to think, Connie was looking for a way out. What she did not expect was that fate was going divert her life with a blind date with destiny – Hoyt Harbor.
Blake McGrath was lonely and fighting his own demons of his past.
“The ocean had robbed him of life, of love, until all that he wanted was to hide, turn his back on all that had been, and wash away misery in hopeless tears of heartbreak.”
When Connie and Blake paths collide, can their encounter change their paths? Can Connie help Blake fight his demons, find redemption, and heal him with a newfound hope and love? After leaving, the art world behind and vowing he would never return five years ago, he suddenly has that seems too forgotten after meeting Connie. Connie brings him new hope and maybe – redemption.
“’I’ve spent endless hours studying your face and talking photos of you,’ Blake said solemnly ‘and yet I don’t think I ever saw you quite as clearly, or as perfectly as I see you right now.’”
Jason Luke’s romance novel, THE LIGHT HOUSE, has done an AMAZING job writing a beautiful story captivating my HEART and SOUL immediately. I was unable to put the book down, because my emotions were on a twisted roller coaster with many turns and feelings of LOST, LAUGHTER, COMPASSION, SADNESS, JOY, ANGER, TRAGEDY, DISTRUST, FORGIVENESS, FRIENDSHIP, and LOVE. THE LIGHT HOUSE will truly pull at your heartstrings, so have your tissues ready and ‘1-Click’ today!
“Don’t take your focus off what matters in life. Remember to never forget those you love or care for – don’t let fate make you regret your choices.”
I rate Jason Luke’s novel, THE LIGHT HOUSE - 5 AMAZING STARS!
I signed up for the release blitz for The Light House and was offered the chance to review the book. I tossed it around a little and decided to give in to the pull I had to this book. There was just something that kept pulling me to this book. I'll be honest the first invite I received for this book I tossed. I have to tell you that I'm very glad the second offer came in. Jason has some amazing talent beyond what I could ever put in to words. This man takes you in to the story and has you living it, seeing it and feeling everything these characters are.
I was blown away by the feeling that was drawn out as I read The Light House. You are taken in to a Connie's world and shown just what if feels like to be lied and taken down to the lowest point that anyone could be. Connie leaves to get away from the controlling relationship she is in. When Connie stumbles on to Blake, who trying to bury his troubles and hides from a life that was once full of promises for him, she shakes his world up.
I was pulled to Connie, she is a very strong willed person that is willing to do the work and not afraid to find the answers she is looking for. She goes full force when she finds something she feels is worth fighting for. Blake on the other had is closed off, making you want to find out what is holding him back. You are pulled to him wanting to know what has caused him to build walls around him and not let anyone in. I felt as though I was right there with them walking the beach, seeing the paint on the canvas of Blake's work. Jason takes you in to points in this amazing story so well that you swear you can see everything that is being described to you. It's like looking at the ocean always changing but, you never going to feel the same feelings about it.
I give The Light House a 5 star review hands down. There is so many emotions that you feel and experience within this book that you are amazed at the talent that Jason bring out. This man has been touched with the gift of words. Amazingly written book.
I have not read other book by Jason Luke but have a bunch on my TBR list. This book was great. Both Blake and Connie are sad and only and looking for that something. Blake is in hiding from everything and everyone then Connie enters his life and something changes in him. Connie is in Maine trying to make choices about her future. The situation she is currently in is horrible and she is trying to figure out how to change it. Then she stumbles upon one of Blake's paintings in a small gallery. It is unsigned and the owner tells her he got from a man and it is not for sale for any price. He then tells where she might find some others. She goes to where to gallery owner tells her and finds two more that she is sure are paintings of Blake's. She is determined to find Blake. She doesn't want the art for their monetary value but because she loves art. No doubt the money from the paintings would solve her problems. Connie manages to track Blake down even know he is going by another name. Once they meet they are surprised by how they feel about the other. They are immediately attracted to each other but don't do anything about it. This book made me want to cry at times. They both have been through so much but in different ways. I was totally surprised by the twist in the book. They manages to find something in each other that comforts them and makes them hope. There is so much emotion in this book and I can't say enough about it, but I don't want to give away any spoilers. Connie winds up helping Blake a lot. Blake is so sad and blames himself so much. I felt for him so much. This book is wonderfully written and had me sucked in. Connie has her own share of problems and issues. She is growing and finally realizing things about herself and what she wants in life. Blake helps her realize some of these things. The other books by Jason Luke will definitely be moving up on my TBR list. Looking forward to reading some of his other books and seeing how they compare.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.
I want to start by saying that I desperately need this book to become a movie and no not a movie on the Lifetime channel. I need this to be a movie on the big screen.
This book blew me away and pulled at my heartstrings the entire time. There is so much emotion in this book. When you look at the cover of this book it says a Love Story and let me tell you that this book is the prefect love story.
Connie is this character that I can truly relate too. She is an art dealer who in fact is very passionate about what she does. While reading this book she finds a painting and is in complete aww. Jason Luke work this book so beautifully that if you close your eyes, it is as if you can actually envision that masterpiece.
Blake was an artist who up and left many years ago and never wanted to be found. He is done and over the whole artist thing. No one knows where he is or why he even left in the first place.
Once Connie stubbles upon this very rare painting her entire world gets turned upside down and she is desperate to track down the artist...and there is no signature on this particular painting...
Now you already know that I will not tell you anymore about this book, because I truly need you to read this book for yourself. This book is so much more than words on paper. This book proves that when we find that special person we fight like hell to keep them. Then this book also proves that sometimes we need that special person to help put us back together again. I am a huge Jason Luke fan and everyone knows it. I mean I talk about him way too much and I may even have a mini crush on him too. BUT in all fairness I am sure every woman what has read his books feel this same exact way as I do.
Jason Luke has proven time and time again that he is in fact a Master at writing. I for one believe that this man can write any genre and it will be a 5 star read. I love every single detail in this book and I have to say move over Nicholas Sparks because now you have some competition!
This is the first book i have read of Jason Luke's and it is beautifully written! It is a story about love, and finding your way when you are lost and over coming issues with self doubt & lack of confidence.
Connie is a beautiful women who is in abit of a sticky situation, she's in debt, but not your average debt to a bank, no she's in debt to her very controlling boss who offered to give her everything but leaves her with nothing.
Blake is a man who has a heartwrenching story which really guts you. He is a worlds famous painter and just before one big Art exhibition, he disappears, POOF gone - like he fell off the face of the earth.
When browsing a small town art gallery, Connie more or less stumbles into a painting which is off striking resemblance to Blake's earlier works before he vanished. She ends up tracking down the artist who painting this painting and what dya know? Turns out to be Blake...
Due to their passion for art, a storm and a dog called Ned an unlikely friendship forms. The connection between the two of them is obvious from the get go and i enjoyed their journey as i went along for the ride.
The light house is a beautifully written story, and basically what it says on the box - its a love story. Usually i go for the more kinky/sexier books and this wasn't that, however don't let that deter you from reading it. would i read this again? No most likely not, but that's due to personal preference but that being said, if your after a book about finding love in the most heart rendering circumstances then this book is for you.
*I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion*
This book was the third I read by this author and again he did not disappoint! The characters Connie & Blake were so well written. The things I really loved about this story is that Connie was a strong lead character. She stood up for her self and confronted issues that were in her life. A striving artist that couldn't paint very well (according to Blake and the demon in New York). On vacation in Maine she found a shop out of the way and found one of Blake's paintings, it moved her so deeply that she had to find the artist.
I absolutely LOVED her mother that is in the nursing home, I laughed so hard out loud at her antics with the cat!
Blake WOW the character was self isolated and the artist that Connie needed to find. He imprisoned himself at his home in Maine because of a condition that would end up robbing him. He meets Connie when she gets in an accident in his "driveway".
Blake lost all passion to paint because of a horrible loss. Connie inspired him to paint again, but not a seascape but her. He also teaches her different painting techniques (which make me now want to learn to paint LOL) She agreed.
Through a series of events Connie confronts Blake and pushes him to knock some sense into him.
The descriptions of the area, how a painter looks at so much, the detail of the writing was outstanding. My largest compliment to the author is that the characters were each strong and didn't wait weeks or months to admit there flaws and actually listened to each other.
Well done Jason!!!!
