The Kardashian brand is moving up the cable dial.
A+E’s fledgling FYI network has ordered a primetime talk show centered on Khloe Kardashian. On the aptly named Kocktails With Khloe, Kardashian will be joined by celebrity guests and friends in the kitchen and around the table for a dinner party filled with cooking, pop culture, conversation and outrageously fun party games. The Los Angeles-based entry, which will be produced by Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Studios, is set to launch with eight hourlong episodes later this year.
“I’m lucky that I’ve been able to invite fans into my life and home on a weekly basis and this show will give me an opportunity to continue to do that with new and exciting guests,” Kardashian, 31, said in a statement announcing the news Tuesday, with Piligian adding: “Khloe Kardashian has emerged as a star in her own right with a gift for remaining funny, warm and relatable while still representing aspirational pop culture.”
Khloe Kardashian is no stranger to the spotlight, having hosted shows (Fox’s The X Factor), fronted spinoffs (Khloe & Lamar, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami) and published dishy books (Kardashian Konfidential). She’ll continue to be a presence on cable rival E!, Lloyd Braun’s OTT hub and in myriad tabloids as well. And though there’s plenty of room for error, as her momager Kris Jenner learned during her 2013 stint as a daytime talk show host, Kardashian won’t lack for newsworthy topics, including sister Kim’s pregnancy, Kourtney’s split from Scott Disick and parent Caitlyn’s recent transition.
News of Kardashian’s forthcoming show comes as the year-old lifestyle network looks to brand itself in an increasingly crowded cable landscape. FYI’s senior vp programming and development Gena McCarthy, who will serve as an EP alongside Kardashian and Piligian (The Ultimate Fighter, Fast N’ Loud, Wicked Tuna), noted that Kardashian is “an iconic millennial voice” that should help the network cut through the clutter.
